I made this category so it's no longer a part of the Biblical criticism category because not all of these scholars are critical of the bible, so it's unfitting. - User:VanillaX
This is very odd... I created this category in November 2005 and moved several dozen people into it from Biblical criticism (as evidenced in the articles' histories). However, there's no history of this category before January 2006, which could only mean that this category was deleted in the meantime, for reasons unknown...
By the way, I think that you have misconstrued the meaning of the term "Biblical criticism". It does not mean "being critical of the Bible", just as "literary criticism" does not mean "being critical of literature". GregorB 19:45, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Among the many biblical scholars properly so identified on this page, the names of Roger Rusk and (more controversially) Earl Doherty and John Shelby Spong do not belong here -- if an NPOV standard such as "recognized as such by other biblical scholars," "member of selective professional organization," "participant in discourse in refereed journals," or even "holds a research degree in this field" were applied. Gary Habermas, though a philosopher/philosophical theologian, is probably close enough as to make it not worth an argument, though I'd be inclined to exclude him also; Frances Young is likewise an awkward fit.Akma 02:06, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I notice you've created a bunch of categories such as "Dutch Biblical scholars". This is a great category to have, but please note that according to WP:MOSCAPS, "The adjective biblical should not be capitalized." StAnselm (talk) 06:04, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
I added a few categories, after following through link then in red Category:French Biblical scholars on the bottom of one page; they were then consistent with previous capitalization for American, German, Jewish, Israeli, British etc.In ictu oculi However if someone is going to rename the existing ones then do so.
