Title change[edit]

I propose that the title of this category be changed to Category:Roman Catholic sex abuse cases in line with the change of the name of Roman Catholic Church sex abuse scandal to Roman Catholic sex abuse cases. See Talk:Roman_Catholic_sex_abuse_cases#Title_2 11 March 2006 User:WikiCats

If there is no objection I will change the title of this category to Category:Roman Catholic sex abuse cases --WikiCats 14:03, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder why this wasn't done? It is blatantly a pov category. Student7 19:48, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added a formal request for a name change (Smallvillefanatic (talk) 19:31, 7 June 2009 (UTC)).[reply]
Favor. This is a start in the right direction. It should be named "Sex abuse cases of the Roman Catholic Church" or something with the general cat first, the specific cat second. It would seem less pov, but this is a good start! Student7 (talk) 01:24, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would personally prefer Roman Catholic sex abuse cases instead of Sex abuse cases of the Roman Catholic Church because the first name indicates that the cases are being committed by certain deviant individuals, and not by the Church itself. The Church is comparable to a large human corporation, which includes both laity and clergy with all their faults, and so to imply that the abuse cases are of the Roman Catholic Church would be like writing Sex abuse cases of the United States of America or Sex abuse cases of the People's Republic of China, which is technically inaccurate, at least in human terms. The title was changed again - apparently without discussion - to Category:Catholic Church sexual abuse scandals, showing pov. The previous title was more neutral Bonifacius 08:48, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The current title is Catholic Church sexual abuse cases. Dimadick (talk) 17:34, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
