Use?

What exactly is the disambiguity page used for? If you have several different possibilities for one page, why not just list them all on that page? Johnricard (talk) 15:41, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Also: what you propose is just what the disambiguity page does, isn't it? All same titles on one page, and then linked to the specific article. If you propose to put all shared titles' content in one article, say called Lift, that one article would have a lot of unrelated sections. That is not readable: the article title should be clear and single in meaning, e.g. for readability.

Way to get a random disambiguation page?

For a while now, I've used the "Random article" link to find articles to clean up. Mostly because I edit in quick spurts when I need a 5 minute break from work. I like cleaning up the disambiguation pages because I am pretty familiar with Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages). Is there a way to get a random disambiguation page? WEST and West disambiguation pages

WEST is a radio station in Easton, PA. The WHOL article also covers WEST. The difficulty is that there are two different disambiguation pages for WEST and West, and the WHOL article has a hatnote for only one of them.

Category:Disambiguation pages with Chinese character titles

This seems like an exceedingly odd category for an exceedingly odd set of articles for the english language WP (I thought that articles must have english language/latin character names). ive proposed that it, and the articles contained, be deleted or if possible rewritten, at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2010 June 15#Category:Disambiguation pages with Chinese character titles. Hidden category

It is better to make this a hidden category with {{hiddencat}}. The articles already have a dab template that is: {{disambig}} That template links to Help:Disambiguation So there is no need to again give link to this category at the bottom. Avoided blue (talk) 09:42, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

I've undid the adding of "hiddencat". It is better to open a discussion/poll about it, also because this is a "complex" category. The problem is that the "hiddencat" to this category is giving some probelms to the bots, that are adding uncat tags to dabpages, seeing them as uncategorized. See for exemple this edit. It is also another issue: The usage of "hiddencat" is reserved to manteinance categories (as wroten here) and this is not one of them. Almost all the dabpages have only one categorization, this one. So with this tag they are shown as uncategorized. Normal and not hidden categorization is necessary for all the articles, and the dab pages are considederd as articles. --Dэя-Бøяg 19:38, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

User:BD2412, thanks for restoring the use of Template:Disambiguation on those dab pages, but I think it would best (for consistency and to reduce the chance that editors omit the dab template on dab pages) if we did any category like this in the same way we do Category:Human name disambiguation pages - i.e. add a "TNDIS" parameter to the disambiguation template. I also wonder whether "Title plus name disambiguation pages" would be a less ambiguous name for the category. DexDor ^(talk) 05:39, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
