Articles for inclusion[edit]

At present the category contains the following articles and category. I have noted my opinion on their suitability for inclusion alongside some of them.

Will finish my evaluation soon. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 20:12, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are you saying that Arc converter should be merged into a as-yet-not-created History of electronic engineering article? If so, what does that have to do with whether it is in Category:History of electronic engineering? If it gets merged it will drop of the list.answered
I am having trouble understanding why you think something that is on the list of IEEE Milestones as a historic achievement in electrical engineering does not belong in Category:History of electronic engineering.
As for your objection to various historic computer hardware milestones being included, why do you think that inclusion in one category is mutually exclusive with inclusion in another category? Wikipedia:FAQ/Categorization#Can pages be in more than one category? says "Yes, it is expected that most pages will be members of more than one category. Similarly, each category can be a member of more than one parent category." To make a good argument for not including those pages, saying "it is in Category:History of computing hardware" is irrelevant. You need to make an argument that those computers are not the product of electronics engineering or that they are not historical milestones, not that they are also in another category. --Guy Macon (talk) 21:49, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The individual IEEE Milestones themselves should not be listed otherwise the category becomes a sort of "mish-mash" for want of a better phrase. I don't know if a Category:IEEE milestones is justified. Incidentally, I moved List of IEEE milestones from the Category:History of engineering to Category:History of electrical engineering. I am not opposed to an article being in multiple categories if that is appropriate. It might start getting a bit messy with some of the digital and computer articles. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 00:37, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
