Proposed reorganisation of MEP categories: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject European Union#MEP Categories - please contribute. - J Logan t: 12:57, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, what would you call it?[edit]

Hey, J, you're back, yay! (sorry, couldn't resist it). Assuming you mean "Category:Members of the European Parliament by 2004 cutoff", you're right: it is a strange title. However, it is accurate. The impetus was the feeling that the categories immediately under Category:Members of the European Parliament should follow the "Members of the European Parliament by..." naming convention (hence Category:Members of the European Parliament by country, Category:Members of the European Parliament by position, etc. I need to point out that no categories have been deleted (did you think they had been?). Well it just sounds strange, what is wrong with "by term"? Fine it is one term and the previous terms in one but it is still by term future ones may be added ("2004 cut off" wouldn't work post 2009, it needs to last).- J Logan t: 11:03, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Technically it isn't by term. It separates MEPs into pre- and post-2004, so it isn't by term, it's by - yes - a 2004 cutoff. It does sound strange, but - as I said above - it's accurate. I know you're working on the categories, and you didn't put Category:MEPs serving 2004-2009 nor Category:MEPs serving before 2004 under Category:Members of the European Parliament by term, you left them out, so I assumed that was part of your plan. If you want to place Category:MEPs serving 2004-2009 and Category:MEPs serving before 2004 under Category:Members of the European Parliament by term and CFD Category:Members of the European Parliament by 2004 cutoff, then please go ahead. Incidentally, what does Category:MEPs serving before 2004 mean? Is it for MEPs serving 1979-2004, or 1958-2004, or 1952/3-2004? Regards, Anameofmyveryown (talk) 13:46, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Former MEPs?[edit]

Is this cat just for present or also for former MEPs? Pcap ping 08:38, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
