Grammar/spelling police[edit]

May we rename this category "Parade High School All-Americans (girls' basketball)?" I believe this is consistent with how we have named men's and women's college basketball categories and articles, as well as many others. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 12:43, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category AND talk page need to be moved[edit]

Per standard English grammar and WP naming conventions, the category needs to be moved from "(girls basketball)" to "(girls' basketball)," but the damn software will only allow me to move the Category talk page, and not the actual Category page, as a non-administrator. I have requested an administrator move the page to the correct spelling. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:20, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Now you have to fix all the references, before the bad cat can be deleted.--Orange Mike | Talk 20:30, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You have to understand: categories cannot be moved. What I did was create a new cat under the correct punctuation, into which the subjects can be moved. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:34, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OM, is there really no other way to accomplish this? Admin JamesBWatson is now involved, too. Let's move this conversation to his talk page and see if we can't figure out the best solution. My memory may be going bad, but I would swear that I encountered this category move problem once before and a knowledgeable admin was able to accomplish the move. Or, maybe I'm just remembering a similar but different problem. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:48, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Use WP:CFDS. Good Ol’factory (talk) 20:36, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
