Diamonds are For Cocktails (2022) is the debut novel by American author and entertainer Zarah based in the decadent setting of the French Riviera, a known playground for the billionaires, and published on October 27, 2022, which has received an endorsement from Fox News, describing the book as a glitzy literary adventure where anything seems to go in the Côte d'Azur.[1][2]

The murder mystery novel unveils the glamorous life of an enigmatic Monégasque diamond heiress Camille Rogers,[3] adopted as a baby, who struggles to reconcile with her past, and her unbreakable bond with her childhood companion James Hughes. Camille eventually reinvents herself and becomes more powerful than ever.[4][2]

Summary[edit]

The story centers around the life of an adopted Monégasque diamond heiress Camille Rogers and her childhood best friend James Hughes living in Monaco and her glamorous billionaire lifestyle, jet-setting across the globe including from Paris to Hollywood,[5] and the fascination that ordinary people possess for the ‘rich and famous’ as some of the dominant factors in the novel.[6]

Camille Rogers becomes the envy of the world yet struggles to make sense of her life. Her close friend and confidant she grew up with James becomes her lifelong companion, who offers his support throughout her journey, while the pair fascinate the elites everywhere intriguing the aristocratic world.[2] Finding solace and fortitude from her childhood best friend was the basis of Camille's self-reinvention and rediscovery of herself as a form of escapism of her past where the plot is similarly viewed as Sunset Boulevard meets The Other Side of Midnight, which details the themes of betrayal, and love, physical and psychological abuse, violence, and human interest.[1][4]

Meanwhile, random victims start to vanish, and plague the French Riviera town sending an alarm to both unsuspecting local French and the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) authorities and communities.[5] The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), spearheaded by a near-retiree Special Agent Joe Carlton, launches an international manhunt in cooperation with other agencies including the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) in London and the Monaco Police Department for the notorious serial killer, which only deepens the crime-ridden mysteries that extend to the genres of suspense, mystery, thriller, and crime.[7]

Book quote[edit]

In 2022, Diamonds are For Cocktails was endorsed by Stephanie Nolasco,[8] an entertainment reporter at Fox News notable for her interviews with royalties including the real-life character in the novel Prince Albert II[9] who quoted the book, a glitzy literary adventure where anything seems to go in the Côte d'Azur. Its pages transport you to the coast's crystal-clear waters. Somehow, we're all invited to play. Mysteries are to be uncovered, but for readers, it's all part of the escapade.[2][10]

Release and distribution[edit]

During its release, Diamonds are For Cocktails was featured on a billboard on Nasdaq Tower at the Times Square in New York in 2022.[9][11] The book was distributed in over 40,000 online bookstores worldwide including Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and Walmart by Ingram Distributors, one of the largest book distributors in the United States. Audiobooks and e-books were brought to major online stores that included Amazon Kindle, Spotify, Apple Books, and Google Play.[12]
