Count Alucard is a fictional character used as an alias mostly by Count Dracula and played by actors Christopher Neame and Lon Chaney Jr on film whilst also appearing in the Anno Dracula novel series by author Kim Newman.

Early life[edit]

Count Anthony Alucard/or simply Alucard was a pseudonym used by Count Dracula himself (or a disciple of his) in the Universal films to not get recognized, Alucard was living in Hungary before 1942-1943, were he met, fell in love with and became engaged to Southern-American woman Katherine Caldwell when she visited Hungary. In the Hammer movies, Alucard was 1 of Dracula's disciples in the 1860s-1870s.

Universal series[edit]

In 1943, Alucard arrives in the Southern Swamps to purchase a property from Colonel Caldwell (Katherine's father), and marry Katherine, so they could live in it. At a party at Caldwell's house, Alucard notices Katherine, Colonel, Katherine's sister Claire Caldwell and Katherine's ex-fiancée and childhood friend Frank Stanley in it and then transforms into a bat to follow Katherine as she goes to the forest and talks to a local gypsy fortune teller Queen Zimba who tells Katherine about the bad things about to happen to her, before Zimba could continue, the Alucard bat arrives inside and bites the gypsy to death as Katherine watches. After that, as the party is slowly ending, Alucard as a bat flies into Colonel Caldwell's room and kills him after hypnotizing his servant Andy outside the house.

A few nights later, Katherine goes to visit Alucard at the swamps were the 2 then go to their new house and get legally married along the way, Frank, suspicious of what's going on, follows the 2 and finds out about the whole affair, causing him to shoot at Alucard but then accidentally shoot and kill Katherine, scared at this, Frank runs outside and away from the house before he falls down unconscious, Alucard as a bat circles around his head and knocks him out even more before leaving to his property. After that, it is revealed that Alucard buried Katherine alive and turned her into a vampire as well, with the 2 living in the Southern property Alucard purchased.

1 night, Alucard gets a visit in his house from the Caldwell family's long time doctor, Dr. Harry Brewster, Alucard shows Harry the vampiric Katherine who warns Brewster to not tell anybody of them living here or of their marriage before Alucard makes Brewster leave the house. After that, some murders occur in the area with Alucard biting a boy named Tommy, he then teleports to and attacks Dr. Brewster at his office but is repelled by a cross held by Professor Lazlo (an expert on vampires and the occult), Alucard, fearing the cross, teleports back home.

After Katherine reveals to Frank that she only married Alucard and was turned into a vampire because she wanted both her and Frank to be immortal, Frank, realizing that Alucard has to go, goes to his lair and burns his coffin, Alucard arrives there and angrily lashes out by fighting Frank before he is repulsed by the burning coffin and is then disintegrated to death because of the sunlight shining in his lair as Frank watches, his disintegrated remains are later found by Sheriff Dawes, Professor Lazlo and Dr. Brewster.

Hammer series[edit]

In 1872, after the deaths of Count Dracula and Lawrence Van Helsing and as Van Helsing's funeral is going on, Alucard puts some of Dracula's ashes in a jar and then buries the jar next to Van Helsing's grave at St. Bartolph's Church. 100 years later in 1972, Alucard's modern day descendant Johnny Alucard and his group of hippie friends including Jessica Van Helsing, Gaynor Keating, Laura Bellows, Bob, Greg, Joe and Anna Bryant dance at a party with other hippies and escape when the cops show up, the next day, they decide to go to the now abandoned St. Bartolph's to perform a satanic ritual/seance at night were as they are performing it, Johnny decides to throw a cup of blood on 1 of them, he chooses Jessica but she doesn't want to do it and scaredly backs away, Johnny then chooses Laura who happily agrees, however when he pours it on her, she starts screaming and the blood starts reacting, all the hippies except Johnny run away while Laura frantically runs around the church, before she is bitten to death by a revived Count Dracula as Johnny watches, happy that his ancient master is back from the dead.

Johnny then begs for Dracula to transform him into a vampire as well which he first disagrees but then agrees with, after being transformed, he seduces and lets Dracula kill Gaynor Keating, Johnny then kills a random hippie woman and Bob. Dracula and Johnny then decide to kill Jessica Van Helsing after Bob, Dracula captures Jessica along with Johnny helping. At his apartment, Johnny is getting ready for a satanic ritual with Dracula to kill Jessica and the Van Helsing bloodline when he is confronted by Jessica's grandfather and Lawrence's grandson Lorrimer Van Helsing, Johnny and Lorrimer get into a brief fight, ending with Alucard in his apartment tub were he tells an interrogating Lorrimer where Jessica is and what has happened to her before he accidentally turns on a shower switch and dies because of the water spraying on and killing him, Johnny's dead body is later found by the police when they look at the scene.
