Teth-Adam, later known as Black Adam, is a fictional character played by Dwayne Johnson in the 2022 superhero films DC League of Super-Pets and Black Adam, based on the character of the same name from Fawcett Comics and later DC Comics. Johnson was originally cast as the character as the villain of the 2019 DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film Shazam!, before his role was cut to develop an eponymous film following the character first, with Johnson's facial likeness being used in Shazam! to represent the character years ahead of his debut.

In the films, Teth-Adam is a metahuman from the fictional nation of Khandaq bestowed with powers, but due to his rage, is imprisoned for 5,000 years before his re-emergence, and rises to become Khandaq's protector and ruler, before meeting Superman and having their dogs (Anubis and Krypto) meet each other.

Black Adam is first alluded to in Shazam! as the Wizard Shazam explains to Billy Batson how the powers of the Champion work, and the previous Champion (represented with a computer-generated silhouette of Johnson's likensss) had unleashed the Seven Deadly Sins upon the world after using his power for revenge.

DC League of Super-Pets[edit]

Johnson's Black Adam makes his first appearance in the post-credits scene of DC League of Super-Pets, where he meets with Superman before being dragged away by his dog Anubis, after the dog is tricked by Superman's own dog Krypto.
