Life and career[edit]

Personal life[edit]

Early years[edit]

Dahan was born as Karin Agnes Ruth Nildsson on April 28th, 1985 in Kalmar, Sweden and the youngest of three children. Although an avid reader in her youth, Dahan did not write as a child. In 2005, Karin enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York where she graduated with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Product Development.

After working in New York from 2005 to 20010, she moved back to Sweden in 2011.

She continued working in Fashion until 2020, when she began writing her first Young Adult book 'Survive For Me'. The book was Part I of a trilogy.

In 2022, she signed with Swedish Publishing House Idus Folag where she released her first Suspense Thriller "Aldrig Säker" in June 2023.

In early 2023, she also signed a book deal with Lava Förlag, to translate and release her 'Survive For Me' book in Swedish. She is also releasing a book titled "The Perfect Wave" in 2024.

Writing technique[edit]

Dahan began her career with Young Adult book 'Survive For Me' in English. Approaching her writing technique, Karin was quoted " I like to have a plan, but then you might not be able to plan each chapter in detail. But the big events and knowing how it will end is good. I like to have something that makes you want to continue reading, to maintain the tension for so long."

Her first book was known for its fast pace action and focus on environmental issues. In an interview, Dahan said "I myself really enjoy reading adventure books with fictional worlds and a lot of imagination. It feels very current with environmental issues and what is happening to the earth. I think it is important to be able to raise that issue to today's young people."

Her follow up release "Aldrig Säker", Dahan moved to writing in her native language, Swedish. She took a break from her YA trilogy and shifted to a Suspense / Thriller book.

Dahan shifted her focus to social issues of sexual assault. "I knew I wanted to write about a strong female protagonist". In an interview, Dahan said "There has been so much about women's vulnerability in the news, something almost every week. That's probably where I got the inspiration from. I think many women can relate to that horror, that you can relate to the fact that an event like Laura's would change your life forever."
