Morgana Cosmica is the stage name of Claudio Marseglia (born 13 January 1985), an Italian drag performer most known for competing on the third season of Drag Race Italia[1].

Biography[edit]

Claudio Marseglia was born in Naples (January 13th, 1985). When he was eighteen years old, after high school, he moved to Monopoli with his family and, in 2007, he changed his life moving to Bologna, where he actually lives and works. He has a degree in art, music and performing arts from the University of Bologna and a diploma in Interior Design. Claudio has always loved art in all its forms and it was this love that led him to be a Drag Queen, so that he could express himself in many artistic ways. In 2012, he married Mattia in New York.

The night before the wedding, together with his bridesmaid, he went to a gay club in New York and, not yet knowing what RuPaul's Drag Race was, they met Bob the Drag Queen, who four years later would win the eighth edition of the TV show that would go on to define his artistic life [2].

Artistic career[edit]

In 2017, she won the title of Miss Alternative with a costume completely made of recyclable materials (as stated in the contest rules), and it was during this event that the name Morgana Cosmica was born [3]. She chose Morgana as her name since she wanted the initials to be the same as her legal name Claudio Marseglia, while Cosmica was chosen by her husband after seeing her in drag for the first time.

She is a drag queen determined never to fall behind and full of initiative. She does not have a drag mother and everything she has learned about this world she has gained over the years through study and practice [4]. In 2019, Morgana participated in the regional selection of the "Drag Factor" competition and came in first place and soon after her victory, she became drag resident at Red Bologna, one of the city's most popular LGBTQIA+ friendly clubs[5].

She competed on season 3 of Drag Race Italia, which aired in 2023 on Paramount+. The judges of the season were Priscilla, Chiara Francini, Paola Iezzi e Paolo Camilli [6] [7] [8].

At the beginning of 2024, it was announced that she had won Fan Favorite title of season 3.

In November 2023, during the airing of the third season of Drag Race Italia, she joined the Werq The World Tour, on the Milan date, along with her sisters from her season (plus Elecktra Bionic and La Diamond) and international drag stars such as Kandy Muse, Aquaria, Bosco, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Lady Camden and Daya Betty [9].
