Gameplay[edit]

Rocket Racing is an arcade racer in which up to 12 players race against each other in rocket-powered cars on a variety of tracks filled with various obstacles and shortcuts.[1][2][3] Players have the option of racing in ranked or private (unranked) races, whether with friends or by themselves.

History[edit]

Background[edit]

On May 1, 2019, Psyonix announced that they would be acquired by Epic Games.

4 years later on December 8, 2023, Rocket Racing was released.[4]

Release[edit]

The preview for the game was first revealed during The Big Bang event on December 2, 2023 through the following day, alongside two other then-upcoming game modes, Lego Fortnite and Fortnite Festival, with the game being released on December 8, 2023, for the majority of platforms supported on the base game.[5]

Upon launch, the game reached over 625,683 concurrent users, surpassing the player counts of Save the World and Fortnite Creative.

Reception[edit]

The game has received generally positive reviews from critics.

Gabriel Moss of IGN gave it a rating of 6/10, saying that "there was certainly fun for a few rounds, but there's not enough here yet to stay fresh very long".[6]
