The Abandons is an upcoming western television series from Kurt Sutter starring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson. Directors on the series include Otto Bathurst and Stephen Surjik.
Premise[edit]
Set in Oregon in the 1850s, diverse family groups consider uniting together to fend off land developers.[1]

Production[edit]
The show received a straight-to-series order from Netflix in October 2022.[2]
The series is produced for Netflix by Kurt Sutter who is creator of the show and will serve as showrunner and executive producer under his SutterInk production banner. Emmy Grinwis will also executive producer, as will Stephen Surjik and Otto Bathurst who will also direct episodes.[3]
Casting[edit]
Lena Headley joined the cast in March 2023.[4] In June 2023, Gillian Anderson was cast as Constance Van Ness, the matriarch of the Van Ness family.[5] In March 2024, Lucas Till, Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, Lamar Johnson, Aisling Franciosi, and Natalia del Riego joined the cast as series regulars.[6]
Filming[edit]
Filming is expected to start in 2024 in Calgary, Canada.[7]
Broadcast[edit]
The series is expected to be broadcast on streaming service Netflix.[8]
