Hamid Pourazari (Persian: حمید پورآذری; born August 5, 1968 in Tehran) is an Iranian theatre director,[1] actor[2] and playwright who was arrested by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps during thne Mahsa Amini protests.[3]

Arrest[edit]

During the Mahsa Amini protests, which contested the mandatory hijab, a video appeared on Soheila Golestani's Instagram page. In it, she, along with several actors including theater director Pourazari and others, appeared without hijabs.[4][5][6] Following the video's release, both Golestani and Pourazari were arrested.[7][8] This form of protest was subsequently replicated by other groups of Iranian and foreign artists. After three months, Hamid Pourazari was released on bail.[9][10][11]
