Rename[edit]

This portal should be renamed Portal:Children's and Young Adult Literature for parallelism and consistency and because it's correct. Unless, of course, this is a portal on children and young adult literaturethe Man in Question (in question) 03:56, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hrm, I'd like to hear comment from Awadewit (talk · contribs) on that. Cirt (talk) 04:01, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, that's why I started the discussion. Take note, also, of WP:WikiProject Children's literature. — the Man in Question (in question) 04:10, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree the portal should be renamed. I was going to ask Cirt to do that when we were sure all of the pages had been created for the portal, to make it easier. Let's check and make sure they are all created and then do that. Awadewit (talk) 22:43, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Before renaming it, take a look also at WT:Portal#Capitalization. So it should be renamed Portal:Children's and young adult literature. — the Man in Question (in question) 23:02, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine with that if Awadewit (talk · contribs) is as well. ;) Cirt (talk) 00:38, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Awadewit (talk) 04:10, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I will put in a request at WP:BOTREQ. Cirt (talk) 04:13, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Request now awaiting a bot operator, at Wikipedia:Bot_requests#Portal_move.2C_and_subpages. Cirt (talk) 20:12, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. Cirt (talk) 20:24, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kate Greenaway Medal[edit]

Anybody care to comment about the prestige of the Kate Greenaway Medal for illustrations in children's literature? How important is this award in the field of illustration? Jason Quinn (talk) 02:52, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You want Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Children's literature. This talk page is only for maintaining this portal. -- Cirt (talk) 06:13, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rename portal?[edit]

"Children's and young adult literature" is an awkward name for a portal. What about just "Children's literature"? Children's literature usually encompasses YA lit. One could theoretically also make an entirely separate portal just on YA lit, with this one being an umbrella portal. Awadewit (talk) 02:39, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Most logical and reasonable proposal. It is indeed true that this portal could then be used generally, and a separate portal could at some point in the future be created for YA list. -- Cirt (talk) 02:42, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I will put a request for page moves, at WP:BOTREQ. -- Cirt (talk) 02:43, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, of note, is that The Man in Question (talk · contribs) pointed out that this would actually make the portal name the exact same name as the WikiProject - namely, WP:Children's literature. :) -- Cirt (talk) 02:49, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Request now pending, at Wikipedia:Bot_requests#Portal_move.2C_and_subpages_-_Children.27s_literature. -- Cirt (talk) 02:52, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Awadewit (talk) 02:58, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. -- Cirt (talk) 10:12, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Placement in See also section of articles[edit]

Note

This portal navigation can be placed on articles, and is commonly placed in the See also section of an article on Wikipedia, using the following code:

{{Portal|Children's literature}}
This displays as:

Cirt (talk)

I am adding the portal tag to every article tagged for Children's literature that has a see also section but no portals with AWB. That should start getting you traffic. It has been very effective with the Novels portal, Sadads (talk) 09:34, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! -- Cirt (talk) 19:32, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Soon I am going to try to figure out how to add a second portal to the template, so that we can get it one pages that already have portals. That requires a little more complicated if/then process though, Sadads (talk) 20:35, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
See the {{Portal box}} template. -- Cirt (talk) 21:00, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
With AWB that is. I could do it by hand, but it is much, much much quicker and more efficient with AWB.Sadads (talk) 22:29, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, okay. -- Cirt (talk) 23:36, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review[edit]

Is this ready for peer review? Awadewit (talk) 18:48, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yup. I will get that going. Good idea, -- Cirt (talk) 18:50, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. Awadewit (talk) 18:52, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Peer review now ongoing, at Wikipedia:Portal peer review/Children's literature/archive1. -- Cirt (talk) 19:08, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quality improvement project update[edit]

This was a joint quality improvement project between myself and User:Wadewitz.

It's been through a Peer Review and I think it's pretty much ready for Featured Portal consideration.

I'll go through the subpages one more time and then see about getting a candidate discussion up soon.

Cirt (talk) 22:03, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
