Neoguri article

Just to let you know, I have a Neoguri article in sandbox - User:Hurricanehink/Sandbox2. I was planning on publishing it (after some more work) once the storm was declared dissipated, but in case we need it while it's active I'm getting it ready. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:16, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I think it might be better if you name the JMA advisories by their date and time rather than a count of the advisories issued (for instance, 16/0000 is labeled "Tropical Cyclone Advisory 09"). -- RattleMan 18:43, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Also, at the beginning of the article you list PAGASA's name as "Typhoon Ambo". However, the highest designation PAGASA used while Neoguri was still in its AoR was Tropical Storm. Perhaps remove "Typhoon" and just leave "Ambo"? -- RattleMan 01:46, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Template usage

Is there any reason we are using {{HurricaneActive}} as opposed to {{Infobox hurricane current}}? What are the differences between the two? The reason I'm bringing it up is that I tried to add an image to the article, but it wouldn't work for the one in the article. Here is the image I uploaded - I know it's not the best, but we don't have anything yet. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:10, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

PAGASA Tropical Depression Butchoy

As an aside, you cannot WebCite PAGASA advisories normally. To WebCite PAGASA advisories, go to the TCUPDATE page, download the file to your computer by saving it, open the file up with a text editor like Notepad, find the text "<meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache">" near the top and remove it, save the file and upload it to a hosting service, then WebCite the file on your hosting service. -- RattleMan 05:56, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Useage of a Forecast Predictions section

I created this section as it could prove slightly useful. Does anyone agree that we should use this for this article for JUST this season to see if its succesful. If it is a roll out amongst the others could be useful.

JTWC systems not yet a tropical storm by JMA

PAGASA's Importance

I think we're including too much information from PAGASA. JMA and JTWC are regional leaders, but PAGASA is not--it simply serves one country. JMA is the RSMC for the basin, while JTWC serves four countries in the basin and is the only forecast authority to work with one-minute averages comparable to other U.S. basins. JTWC's intensities are also comparable to SSHS and other 10-minute average basins in terms of satellite analyses. PAGASA, meanwhile, has limited geographical coverage (compared to China, South Korea or Taiwan), and is included here only because of its domestic naming scheme. I think we should keep it that way and only lists upgrades from LPA to TD (i.e. when a name is assigned)--not TD to TS or leaving PAR, which have no international significance. Acttully i agree we are including to much infomation. The only information we need from PAGASA is when they Name a Tropical depression and Damages. The only Circumstance that i can that we reqire more information from PAGASA is when they name a TD but the JTWC & the JMA do not monitor the storm. As for other NMHS (ie GUAM, Korea, HKO Etc) their information should only be included in the article as and when there is a storm in their AOR that develops but the JMA & JTWC do not Recognise the system Jason Rees (talk) 17:18, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes but it could help people as sometimes the "smaller" group of forecasters give more accurate forecasts as they are under slightly less pressure. Anyway i thought we were trying to develop these articles a bit more than last season.

JMA now monitors Tropical Storm Matmo (0803) as a low

I've seen the JMA page and noticed a remnant low from 0803. (See it here) Can I put that new info??? -Pika ten10 (talk) 02:15, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Using the information located in the logs at the top of the page, you can update the storm history, noting that the JMA issued their final advisory as a developed low. -- RattleMan 03:46, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Citation templates

This article uses bare references when it should be using citation templates. It is much easier to use them in the first place, than to convert them later. It is important because it keeps the access date easily available. Also long urls are not shown, so they don't run into one another, making the bottom of the page illegible.
