Over-referencing[edit]

I deleted a number of references from this because they really weren't used for the information contained in the article. Specifically, I deleted individual player profile references from the Academic All-American section. In this section, all info - names, teams, majors & GPAs - was derived from the CoSIDA Academic AA release. Adding references to each player name is unnecessary and just clogs up the bottom of the article. I know this was done last year, but I'd like to ask that we avoid the same mistake in 2011. These articles really use only about 15 references (a few for the lead, and then one for each individual AA team). If users want more info on each player, they can click to that player's wikilink. Bottom line is that there is no need to use a reference from which no information was used. Thanks Rikster2 (talk) 14:07, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fox Sports[edit]

"Although the aforementioned lists are used to determine consensus honors, there are numerous other All-American lists." Is there any reason the other All-American lists, such as Fox Sports', aren't included? ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 04:37, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CFB does it that way showing both those used to determine consensus and a host of others. I am not sure of the relative significance of the non-consensus-determing ones for basketball, but am not averse to adding it if there are WP:RS going back for several years (if not decades). E.G., we don't just want a couple of years of FOX. If we add it, I think we want to add it going back for the 20 or 30 years that they may have been making lists.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 03:30, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nolan Smith POY[edit]

According to WEEI ([1]), Nolan Smith was FOX Sports, Yahoo! Sports and NBC Sports National Player of the Year. I can not find any other resource which confirms any of these, not even GoDuke.com.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:37, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
