Notability[edit]

It would be interesting to know something specific about this transistor. What company first registered it? How many companies made it at its most popular? Does anyone still make it now? How many are made in a year? Is it as popular now as it was in, oh, say, 1968? What notable products were made possible due to the invention of this trnsistor that weren't possible before? A little more depth than the NTE cross reference guide would be very encyclopediac. --Wtshymanski (talk) 03:40, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • answers: 1. Motorola (in article) 2. Every company in the mass-market transistor business, even if they had to mark it on parts that could have fetched a higher price, in order to fill the entire order for major clients 3. Yes 4. ? 5. probably peaked in the '70s 6. Maybe some mainframe computer boards (before IC's) that used thousands, that previously used hermetic parts.74.60.162.69 (talk) 20:40, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

pinout diagram[edit]

The pinout diagram shows collector on one side on the isometric view and on the other on the bottom view. maybe that's a top view? confusing — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.35.201.196 (talk) 21:46, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the apparent bottom view would have to be a top view looking through the package.Constant314 (talk) 14:28, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Though technically correct, I agree the drawing could be confusing, and there is a less confusing way to do it. Unfortunately, we can't do much about it until someone comes along with the skills (and free time) to make a better drawing. I wish the electronics group had a professional illustrator available to do requests. • SbmeirowTalk • 14:52, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The top view is also the PCB layout view. That could be clarified in the caption.Constant314 (talk) 14:58, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
