ORBAT

In regards to the ORBAT, it lists 3SBCT's Engineer CO as 19th Engineers.. They are the 18th Engineer Company. It is listed correctly elsewhere on the page. DocHellfish (talk) 11:21, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

World War 2

Regarding their World War 2 history, elements of the division spent some time in the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot area of South Wales before embarking at Swansea docks for Normandy. Troops of the division were bivouacked on a tract of common land near the village of Crynant, Neath. Many villagers still remember them being there and remember the time they marched away to war. Warrior Band

There did not seem to be included on the page anything about the the Second Infantry Division "Warrior" Band, just thought I would mention that. This is a link to their home page: [1]—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.33.96.36 (talkcontribs) 00:40, 6 April 2004.

Order of Battle

Does anybody else think its kind of stupid to post the Order of Battle, component Commanders and senior officers, component headquarters and other information about a forward deployed infantry division on a publicly available website the North Koreans are probably monitoring? Something about it just strikes me as odd. Scuzz138

Actually, the information on this webpage is from a set of official public websites. The North Koreans have known this information for years, and learn of any upgrades less than 10 seconds after the South koreans do. SSG Cornelius Seon (Retired) 05:03, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

3rd Brigade Deployments

There is nothing here about 3rd brigades Iraqi deployments. They deployed in novemeber of 2003, and they were the first stryker brigade. They also deployed again in june of 2006. Gorkymalorki 04:07, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

FA Bde up at Casey

Am I missing something? Doesn't 2ID have a whole FA Bde up at Casey 211.45.200.224 (talk) 11:42, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, 210 FIRES BDE and an Air Force Squadron that is part of 2ID are not on this list. --Brandnew70x7 (talk) 12:04, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Under the current Army force structure, Division Artillery no longer exists. Instead, each BCT has its own FA battalion. The 210th Fires Brigade is not the 2nd Infantry Division's former Division Artillery. The 210th has its own shoulder patch and it provides support to, but is not a part of, the 2nd Inf Div. For many years the 210th was stationed in Germany and didn't arrive in Korea until late 2006. See this link for the official US Army lineage on this unit. [2] This link provides historical information on when the 210th was stationed in Germany from 1945 to 1989.[3] I well remember, from personal experience, the 210th's presence in Germany during the 1970s and 1980s, not Korea. The lineage at the first link makes it clear that the 210th and the former Division Artillery, 2nd Inf Div[4], are two entirely different organizations.VilePig (talk) 21:01, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
No, you're absolutely wrong. I'm currently in 210 FIRES and we wear the 2 ID patch. --Brandnew70x7 (talk) 11:56, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
How about the fact that 2/2 is currently inactive and 5/2 is not listed on the page? That seems to be a glaring error. 5/2 is supposed to reflag to 2/2 late this year or the beginning of the next, but regardless that should be annotated. Also, when did the Army start referring to units in Korea as "Forward Deployed?" If it's a PCS move, how can it be considered a deployment? My ERB states that I had a restricted tour in Korea, not a combat or operational tour. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 214.13.196.186 (talk) 10:53, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Division Commanders listings

Can someone with greater editing skills than I consolidate the tables/listings of commanders? Seems the data is duplicated between the overall listing plus the listings for war periods. I recommend a single table which can include a column for time served in war. Also, consolidation will/should clear up conflicting data.Thanks. --S. Rich 17:03, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

2d Infantry Division

If you look at the references from the Military History Center, there are no "n"s in the Army's military unit numbers from squad at least up through division, (nor "r"s in 3d), although even they accidently made it 2D on one, when those letters are never capitalized except in systems in ALL CAPS, like it's (obsolete?) GenSer messaging system. I'm not positive whether the other services ever made the distinction. :D 75.203.255.157 (talk) 07:34, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Commercialism

What is the Wikipedia policy regarding external links whose only purpose seemingly is to draw business to a commercial website, in this case www.combatreels.com? I've no doubt that the DVDs are interesting to many people, but there is no information on that site that isn't carried in the Wikipedia article itself. Seems kind of inappropriate to me. Is it?--172.190.116.12 (talk) 01:59, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Crimes? -- POV Check

How does the adding of a crimes section improve the article? The incidents in question are particular to the individuals and victims, not the 2ID as a whole. Has there been some notable fallout from these two particular alleged crimes? Is there any large military unit anywhere in the world that does not have individuals committing crimes both within the unit and outside? How about non-military organizations -- should articles about Apple, Inc., Whole Foods Market, or Zoto (zoto.com) have sections about alleged crimes committed by their employees? Clearly not. Adding such a section here, without providing a stronger tie-in to the organization, is violating WP:UNDUE and WP:NOTNEWSPAPER.--S. Rich (talk) 22:04, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

As IP editors are persistent in reverting deletions of the crimes section despite edit messages asking for discussion, I have have tagged the article for a POV check. Editors are asked to discuss the crimes section (and honor the WP:BRD process) here rather than edit warring. --S. Rich (talk) 02:57, 30 September 2011 (UTC)22:31, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
The POV banner invoked no discussion here. I removed same.--S. Rich (talk) 21:25, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

HC Plzeň 1929 Indian head logo?

While the logo of HC Plzeň 1929 is certainly a duplicate of the Indian head, there is nothing in the HC Plzeň article or their official website [5] that indicates the Indian head is honoring 2ID. True, 2ID did attack towards Pilsen, but we need WP:RS to actually make the connection. (More likely the good soldiers of 2ID were simply seeking to secure the Plzeňský Prazdroj.)--S. Rich (talk) 17:33, 15 December 2011 (UTC) This team photo for the 2009/10 season is the first one where they have the Indianhead logo. [6] 17:56, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
