please undo recent edits[edit]

Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh is not closed as recently edited and there are many other inaccuracies as well made in the November 15-16, 2020 edits. Please undo and block the person who made those edits. Thank you. [1] AqAc (talk) 15:30, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @AqAc:, thanks for bringing this to our attention. I see that you have reverted the edits yourself so I have closed this ticket. I have given the user a warning about their edits on this page and if they continue the user's contributions will be evaluated by an admin.
Based on your name, I assume that you are connected to this school. Please read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and if you are being paid to monitor or edit Wikipedia, please read Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. You need to declare your conflict of interest before you can continue editing. If you have any questions, please post below or ask on my talk page. Happy editing! today's edits[edit]

Thank you for your help, @Z1720. I do need to disclose that I am a paid employee of the school, but I am not hired for the sole purpose of monitoring the school's wikipedia page. Do I need to do anything more for full disclosure? AqAc (talk) 16:27, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you immediately STOP editing the article. You have a WP:COI since you are a paid employee of the school. You said that you are not hired "for the sole purpose of monitering the school's wikipedia page". Does your job involve marketing for this school, or doing any sort of PR for them? If so, you are considered a paid editor, and must disclose your status per WP:PAID. Also, you must use the Template:Request edit to propose additions to this article.
I'm also concerned about your username, as it seems to be a representation of the school and violate WP:ORGNAME. I suggest you change your username by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you have any questions, please post below. Z1720 (talk) 16:55, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am having trouble understanding how adding a sentence about factual awards that were received by the school, naming those awards exactly as they are named by the award giver, and then providing the award giver's website as reference so that the awards can be verified, is considered promotional advertising. It was stating facts, like an actor's page might state that he or she received an Oscar. If wikipedia pages are not allowed to show any positive elements about their subject for fear of looking like it is advertising, then the new statement may be removed. And, I would like to retire this username as it seemed harmless when I created it.

AqAc (talk) 18:39, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @AqAc:, I added that advertising tag because the whole article reads like an advertisement, not just the awards. Yes, an actor's page lists their awards but it also describes their biography, critiques of their acting style and personal life, which might be positive or negative. This article only describes the school's achievements and facilities, which is why it reads as promotional. The prose needs to be reformatted and more information needs to be added about the school before that tag can be removed. Please read WP:NPOV for more information on this topic.
As for your user name, I suggest you change it to conform to our policies. For example, some employees of 3M have created accounts like "CB at 3M" to show their affiliation with the company and which employee is editing under the account. Other people use a username that has nothing to do with the company but post their affiliation on their user page. I recommend requesting a new username at Wikipedia:Changing username.
Thanks again for editing, and please post below if you have any questions. Z1720 (talk) 18:52, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Z1720:, I removed any content that could be seen as advertising. Please review and consider removing the advertising tag. Thank you for you consideration of my request.

@AqAc: Please do not make any further edits to this article. As outlined in WP:COI, editors are strongly discouraged from editing an article where they have a conflict of interest. Since you are employed by the school, you have a conflict of interest. Please follow the instructions on Template:Request edit/Instructions and use the talk page to propose edits or deletion of text. I have reverted your edit because other editors need time to evaluate the sources and information to determine if they should be in the article.
As for your proposal, you deleted a lot of information that might (and I emphasise might) be used to establish the school's notability. I am concerned for the lack of secondary sources as most of the references are to the school's website. This might cause the article to fail WP:GNG and get deleted. Can you post some links below that show that the school is notable? Examples include a news article about the school's opening or a magazine article about a significant aspect of the school. You can also propose additions to the article using those sources with the request edit template. Z1720 (talk) 20:20, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
