Wrong facts[edit]

"Two graphic design students from a nearby school were injured" -- wrong translation, correct on should be: Two graphic design workers were injured

Also coordinate: 45°48′48″N should be changed to: 45°48′47″N

Renaming?[edit]

Maybe this article should be renamed. This was an assasination, as the media asserts, not a terrorist attack (for which the term bombing is generally used). --Tone 22:13, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so. Most bombings/terrorist attacks/mafia style killings are meant to kill, but this was a car bomb that killed/injured others, not just Pukanić. --Jesuislafete (talk) 17:33, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
After reading some reports, I agree. The title is fine. --Tone 09:32, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Revolver jam?[edit]

Last I checked, such a thing was impossible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.188.56.99 (talk) 19:14, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know, but the source says so and I can't speculate whether something went wrong with the hammer, or the firing pin, or something entirely else, etc. Admiral Norton (talk) 21:52, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The source says 'pistol', not revolver. Since pistols can jam, I'm going to change this in the article unless somebody has another source stating it is a revolver. Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :) 21:44, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't ever heard of a pistol being cocked, but as I'm unable to find a source featuring the revolver I'll leave it as "pistol." Admiral Norton (talk) 14:06, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

other victim[edit]

The bio identifies the other victim as Ivica Patel, a Nacional news reporter; the bombing article says Niko Franjić, the Nacional director of marketing. Which is it? Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 00:58, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is Niko Franjić. --Jesuislafete (talk) 17:32, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motive[edit]

This article does not attempt to explain the motive behind this assassination. Who was this guy and why would anyone want him dead? 209.90.141.46 (talk) 02:48, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe readers of croatian can help. Trying asking on the project page, or the wikipedia croatia page. Lihaas (talk) 02:54, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Scratch that. Trying the latter only gives this (http://hr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atentat_u_Zagrebu_23._listopada_2008)
AFAIK, there can be only speculations about this. News have not released any info about the motive. Admiral Norton (talk) 14:28, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Front page[edit]

The frontpage comments that the victim was killed in a carbomb, but since the bomb was placed in a trash can nearby and not in the vehicle perhaps different wording should be used. Vayne (talk) 23:26, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article was nominated only a few hours after the bombing, when it was still believed that the bomb was under Pukanić's car. Admiral Norton (talk) 14:09, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Blue Boys?[edit]

In the section on 2008 Zagreb crime wave it talks about a Soccer fan murder (without a date, I might add). The rest of the article talks about organized crime. Does one have anything to do with the other? If so what? The subtext of the article is that the bombing talked about on the page was a result of a campaign by organized crime. If the soccer deaths don't have to do with that they should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.50.4.4 (talk) 19:49, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The murder of Ivana Hodak also most probably has little to do with organized crime (omertas and such things are uncommon in Croatian mafia; shootouts in suburban dive bars do happen occasionally, though). However, these events have been associated together by Croatian media to create an image of a crime wave threatening the country. It does seem very much stretched out to me, but I don't write the sources themselves, I'm merely here to write about them. Admiral Norton (talk) 20:09, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Two big shortcomings: the trial and the motives (even if speculative) are not discussed, and these are two major aspects of the subject.

Referencing is good, could be improved by fixing some dead refs. The structure is generally fine, but focus could be improved - it is apparent that bulk of the article was written while the media coverage was still unfolding. For example, Sretko Kalinić was arrested in June 2010, now almost exactly a year ago, so facts need to be updated correspondingly. Mirjana Pukanić and Mesić are discussed, but their involvement is fairly tangential. This is a complex event, and better context regarding Pukanić's background is necessary to understand it.

It was definitely a B class at some point, but now it's incomplete and partially dated, so I'm (rather reluctantly) downgrading it to C class. It shouldn't be that difficult to restore it to B class, and there is GA potential in it too. GregorB (talk) 21:38, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
