Assemblies of God?[edit]

I'm assuming that the name of the English translation of this denomination is "Assemblies of God Africa" or something similar. Is this affiliated with the World Assemblies of God Fellowship? If so, is this denomination the same as the Mozambique Assemblies of God? Ltwin (talk) 22:09, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"African assemblies of god" would be a better translation.
I have no idea who they are or who they're affiliated with; there are lots of ghits but all seem to be mirrors of wikipedia.
This book seems to suggest a complex relationship between different churches over time, and that they're headquartered at Nsanje, but I can't read the full text. Can't find anything else in my library. Got any sources? Anyone? bobrayner (talk) 15:04, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the translation and info. According to the World AG website (http://worldagfellowship.org/fellowship/countries/wagf-participating-members-m-r/), they have several body's affiliated with them in this part of the world: Mozambique Assemblies of God, Malawi Assemblies of God, and Pentecostal Assemblies of God in Malawi. None of these are headquartered in Nsanje, so it doesn't appear that this is a WAGF affiliate unless this was once a large multinational jurisdiction that was split up later on. Thanks again. Thanks. I think it's quite possible that there have been forks, mergers, moves &c, and that AdDA have some connection to the WAGF family-tree. Can't really say more without more sources, alas. bobrayner (talk) 16:36, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just an addition: The "Assembleia de Deus" in Portuguese speaking Africa is overwhelmingly "imported" from Brazil where is is part of a large Pentecoastal movement. This is particularly evident in Angola, but also applies to Mozambique, Cape Verde and São Tomé e Príncipe. I don't know about Guines-Bissau. Aflis (talk) 17:58, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
