removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV[edit]

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 01:27, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Smith took over or "purchased" the island and displaced the poor families living on it as they didn't fulfill his requirements. He then had illegitimate children with the servants. I wouldn't consider him a philanthropist in any way, shape or form. Far from it.

The above objection is biased, in that

1) it fails to take into account the true nature of Smith's actions on Scilly - a general reform of the leases, which had fallen into chaos thanks to the muddle and indeed corruption of the previous administration.

and

2) it is based on a subjective view of information popularly accepted as true but factually without foundation. Please provide references. You will find that they point to a view opposite to the one you seem in your halting way to wish to express

I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:15, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Images are appropriately tagged; sources are reliable.

  • I think the lead could be a little longer; it's only one sentence at the moment.
  • 'As the title suggests, it traces the family name from its early beginnings and purports ″the county of Nottingham may justly be considered as the fatherland of Smiths, who have always abounded within its borders″': "asserts" might be a more natural word than "purports".

That's all I can find to complain about. The article is well written. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:38, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wonderful, thanks for being willing to review the article! I've addressed the problems you raised, please let me know if there's anything else to sort out for the review. Have a great day! HenryTemplo (talk) 12:06, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
