Requested move 30 April 2023[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: no consensus. Redirect not created due to B.I.G being salted. (closed by non-admin page mover)MaterialWorks 19:57, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

B.I.G (band)B.I.G – Maybe primary or so, well, just like at page H.O.T., it may be moved there, but needing a hatnote at the top (in this case: a hatnote to Big (disambiguation) must be enough) See below example:

The log at B.I.G states that it is protected from creating last 2016, and seems like I can't move the page there. RMXY (talk) 06:19, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Even WP:SMALLDETAILS is too much for something like this. Not the obvious primary topic for "BIG" or "B.I.G." or similar. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 06:50, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Per WP:SMALLDETAILS this is not in the Airplane film category. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:22, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reluctant support I didn't really like the move to T.O.P a while back [1], but since it's there, might as well be consistent. The lack of the third dot makes it a SMALLDETAIL. 162 etc. (talk) 16:22, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a small detail most people would realize. Being something not at all obvious is where I'd draw the line with regards to that. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 05:18, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, but as seen at T.O.P and I.M, the Wikipedia community does not. 162 etc. (talk) 14:35, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I !voted for such a thing last year, huh... well, in the interest of not being a hypocrite, I will change it to support using the rationale I used there. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 15:49, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Per WP:SMALLDETAILS. .com, etc. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 15:49, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The Notorious B.I.G. is clearly primary. Disambiguation is required. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:20, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: If not moved, may we have "B.I.G." redirect to "Big"? RMXY (talk) 11:56, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
B.I.G. already redirects to Big. If you're looking to discuss redirects, please see WP:RFD. 162 etc. (talk) 15:50, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Sorry. I mean "B.I.G" and not "B.I.G." D'oh! RMXY (talk) 12:29, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I suggest that "B.I.G" may be created as a redirect to "Big" just in case the article is not moved. RMXY (talk) 13:43, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

B.I.G (band)B.I.G – Try this again. I placed this move in WP:RM/TR. This may be a contested request. Please also note that B.I.G was protected from creating in 2016. RMXY (talk) 05:24, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have requested at RFPP that B.I.G be unsalted so it can be created as a redirect to Big. Note MaterialWorks you should have done this when closing the previous RM. Jenks24 (talk) 11:18, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per WP:SMALLDETAILS. Only topic with this punctuation, just need a hatnote, not a parenthetical qualifer. Mdewman6 (talk) 17:28, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Do any English-language independent reliable sources discuss this band? — BarrelProof (talk) 18:39, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm definitely a supporter of SMALLDETAILS but I'm not sure if it distinguishes here as any of the acronyms could be written this way as its normal to put full stops in acronyms. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:38, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but without that final dot after the G, it could refer properly only to the band, not any of the others. Station1 (talk) 05:14, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, support yes its unique due to the absence of the 3rd full stop. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:35, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
