GA Reassessment[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch

I do not think this is a good article at this point, so I boldly reclassified it where I think it belongs, which is class B. There aretwo main problems, both probably fixable.

  1. The article is out of date. It refers to 2009 events, saying that it is not yet known what the outcome will be. This is unacceptable for any article. The matters referred to there must be brought up to date, and the statistics updated also.
  2. The article is wildly overdetailed. This is a regional library, not a national library. The main part of the article is about a local controversy about rebuilding a regional library, and the details of the discussions , with references to the letters to the editor in regional newspapers and the like, are not encyclopedic. The proper length of that section would be about one or two paragraphs. DGG ( talk ) 06:11, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have initiated a WP:GAR for DGG as he no longer beleives this article meets the WP:GACR. AIRcorn (talk) 07:40, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article needs to be updated to take into account the formation of Auckland_Council, which I understand has completely changed the library system. Stuartyeates (talk) 07:57, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not sure of the procedure here but the article is NOT a good article. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 20:09, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hopefully editors interested in this topic will address the concerns raised and the article can be kept as a Good article. If that doesn't happen in a reasonable ammount of time (say a week) it will just be delisted (no longer labelled as a Good article). OohAh (talk · contribs) was the editor who originally got it GA status, but has not been very active of late so unless anyone else is interested that is the most likely scenario. I would far rather that we did some of the work on Wikipedia:WikiProject New Zealand/Popular pages. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 01:31, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I actively work on New Zealand pages and library pages (see for example my new List of libraries in New Zealand), but Birkenhead Public Library would be a _long_ way down my person list. Stuartyeates (talk) 01:43, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Closing as delist. AIRcorn (talk) 08:26, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
