In General There are Seven[edit]

...is misleading. Sure, most have 7 groups, but the names and content vary widely. I still think it needs a table of who has what where, or else just list separately for each org, or else not list the groups at all but refer to the individual KC articles for that info. The most accurate (and the most fair, for show purposes) are the the Fédération Cynologique Internationale's ten groups, each with multiple subgroups (called Sections) that identify basic types and place of breed origin. The strangest group is The Kennel Club (UK)'s Utility Group, a catchall of unrelated breeds. The names of the Groups and which dogs are placed in which Group are just decisions made by kennel clubs. None of these Group categories actually mean anything; research on dog genetics is beginning to show that many categories and breed histories that we thought we knew -- are just old stories. Even the "functional" names of Groups are basically irrelevant when the real function of the vast majority of dogs today is to be a pet.--Hafwyn (talk) 16:13, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Awkward name[edit]

A "breed group" is an entity, and the plural is "breed groups" not breeds groups.

Is there some way to change the name of this article? I think it should be called Breed groups (dogs) or Breed groups (dog) since cats and other animals also have breed groups.----Hafwyn (talk) 23:22, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Romanian Corb Shepherd[edit]

The Romanian Corb Shepherd is NOT internationally recognized by the FCI, but only recognized nationally by the Romanian Kennel Club. Therefore it should be removed from the list of FCI group 2.2(Molossers section). --Canarian (talk) 13:09, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
