I'm surprised the article doesn't mention the "Two O'Clock Titty" shadow effect. The cathedral is at least as famous for that as for looking like a washing machine. Jef (talk) 04:12, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nickname[edit]

I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but locals refer to this cathedral as "Our Lady of Maytag", a reference to the similarities between the cathedral's shape and the agitator in a top-loading washing machine. Eganio 21:56, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Abuses and misinterpretatinons"[edit]

Quote the article:

Abuses and misinterpretation of the historic church council allowed the Archdiocese of San Francisco to plan boldly in the building of its new cathedral.

Is the article implying that the Archdiocese misinterpreted Vatican II and that's what let them plan for a modernist cathedral? Because that seems ... kinda insane. It's certainly NPOV. I'm going to remove it. --Jfruh (talk) 23:28, 4 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
