hi what's up

Most famous quote[edit]

"It would be superfluous in me to point out to your Lordship that this is war." It would be nice if this quote from the negotiations which stopped the iron clad rams from being delivered to the confederates could be added to the article. Nitpyck (talk) 06:01, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Karl Marx's message to Lincoln[edit]

Karl Marx’s ‘Address of the International Working Men's Association to Abraham Lincoln’ was presented to Charles Francis Adams in London on January 28, 1865.

Adams replied to Marx on the same date: ‘I am directed to inform you that the address of the Central Council of your Association, which was duly transmitted through this Legation to the President of the United States, has been received by him.’

I don’t see how the President could have received the document on the same date. (The transatlantic telegraph was still a few years off.) Valetude (talk) 10:21, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
