Early life[edit]

  • Split off the paragraph into two at the point Matthews signed his letter of intent so it is not uncomfortable to read
  • "In his youth basketball took a backseat to the trombone and skateboard, but he began to take basketball seriously the summer before his high school freshman year" - {{xt|In his youth, he played the trombone and skateboard, but started taking basketball seriously in the summer before his school freshman year."
  • "He committed to John Calipari and Kentucky on February 26, 2014 during his junior year." - reword this sentence so it reads as follows: Matthews committed to playing basketball with John Calipri and the Kentucky Wildcats on February 26, 2014 during his junior year.
  • "Matthews was the first commit for Kentucky's 2015 class." - Matthews was the first to commit to playing basketball for Kentucky's 2015 class.
  • "Matthews earned tournament MVP." - Hence, Matthew earned the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
    • Done without the Hence, because there is no content to support it. Hence would require documentation of a superlative performance in the preceding sentences.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:27, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • "He officially signed his National Letter of Intent on National Signing Day, November 22, 2014." (has hammer)
  • "for the 21–8 St. Rita's team that was eliminated from the 2014 IHSA Class 4A playoffs by the Jahlil Okafor-led Whitney M. Young Magnet High School team." - repetition of "team"
  • "During Matthews four-year high school" - Matthews'
  • "Following his senior season, he was a first team Associated Press Class 4A All-state selection." - After his senior season, he was a selection for the Associated Press' Class-4A All-State first team.

  • CBS Sports in reference 5 should be moved to the publisher field
  • ESPN needs to be moved to the publisher field in reference 13 and do the same with rivals.com and 247sports.com in the next two citations
  • The Author is needed in Reference 12.

Those are all the issues I found during my read-through of this article. Going to put this review on hold. MWright96 (talk) 15:34, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
