I created this page because it was red linked in the article on Norman Spinrad. That article is in pretty poor shape, but Spinrad is a notable author who has won multiple awards. I can link to a couple of places where Spinrad mentions A Child of Fortune as one of his favorite books (that he has written).

In addition, I think the fact that there was a scholarly article discussing this book increases its notability.

My understanding is that the critical reception of the book was extremely positive, but I haven't had a chance to look for book reviews or anything yet.

I understand if you think this article is poor quality, but it has to start somewhere. I believe this article should not be deleted without a legitimate AFD discussion. Puddytang (talk) 23:16, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

: What book of yours would you recommend to a first-time reader? NS: Hard to say, because it depends on the tastes of the reader in question. I think He Walked Among Us is my very best, or among my very best at least, and quite accessible to the general reader who has never read SF. Child of Fortune and The Void Captain’s Tale I think are on the highest literary and stylistic level I’ve so far achieved, but may require some familiarity with science fiction . If you’re into rock and roll, by all means Little Heroes. You pays your money and you takes your choice.^[1]

Wikification[edit]

I put non-english words in italics. When I used English phrases from the book I retained Spinrad's capitalization. Do all these phrases need to be in italics? quotes? italics and quotes for the non-english words? Puddytang (talk) 03:07, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
