According to current information on http://www.clubpenguin.com/membership/ the number of puffles allowed to a paid member is 16 as the article currently states. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.18.122.112 (talk) 03:07, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Do we move the Penguin Chat 3 article to this one?--RatónBat TALK 2 ME! 14:11, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

The PC3 article has no sources listed. Until verifiable sources are available, the content shouldn't be included. For now, I put a PC3 link in the 'History and development' section. —ADavidB 15:13, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Can you...

Can you add the "Room during beta era" section? i really needed--125.27.46.6 (talk) 14:14, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't think we can. If an image of it was used, it would be using a non-free image, which is not allowed according to Wikipedia's copyright policy. It also wouldn't really match, because it isn't much of a real era. It would just be a section that describes a room on club penguin, which wouldn't really be something that would be on an encyclopedia. --Hadger 00:10, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

New ClubPenguin Books

Hello, I'm a clubpenguin player, and I'd like to add that there is currently a new book. Well, it's actually a comic book, and It's the first one. It's called: "ClubPenguin Comics-Volume One" I don't think that you can unlock anything with this book yet, but I just got it a few months ago. Should we add it to the article? Ummm, i didn't research about it, but maybe you can. I don't have any references either. Sorry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Natalie978 (talkcontribs) 22:18, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Too Many Examples

The book section has too many examples. I think 6 or 7 is enough. Does anyone agree? --Hadger 04:30, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm just going to remove the last 2 and add a note saying we don't need so many examples. --Hadger 04:31, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

New Plays

Can someone add the new plays?--Tech163 (talk) 22:45, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

I think we have enough, because we don't really need every single play. Sorry, but putting up every single play would make it too detailed. --Hadger 00:45, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
I added the plays for November and January before getting an update here. If the list only showed a few, expanding to include all would probably be too much. Since the list was otherwise complete, however, I went ahead and added two more. I didn't find mention of the December play in the game's "What's New" archives, so it remains unknown. —ADavidB 03:25, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, whatever it was, it is probably Christmas themed. --Hadger 03:58, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Rockhopper merge

The Rockhopper character doesn't warrant a separate article. It had been merged into this article and replaced by a redirect in February 2007, though that was undone without explanation in February 2010. I propose that the Rockhopper article be merged again into this one. —ADavidB 09:00, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Redirect. If you mean it should be redirected, I agree, because putting even a section Rockhopper would be somewhat of a gameguide. This article should be redirected because it is not really notable enough for even a section. --Hadger 16:41, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Yes, restoring the redirect is what I had in mind. —ADavidB 09:18, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

First of all, you didn't even wait for a reply. That statement is untrue. Vandalism is cleaned and reverted properly. Your "rivalry" has nothing to do with the reliability of that website. Whether users stay or not does not have a major effect the information that is provided. A poll is unnecessary in this minor situation. --Alxeedo TALK 16:08, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

I think this article should have a "spin-off" section of some kind, detailing on games like Club Penguin, or even based on Club Penguin, like http://icpv3.com/ ,as these games are quite popular. (iCPv3 is 1/33(Yes, thirty-three, not three) as popular as Club Penguin) Orwellian dystopia is definitely a good description of the filtering system, which does not even exist in iCPv3! Disney buyout

At the end of the first paragraph, it is stated:

"The success of Club Penguin led to New Horizon being purchased by The Walt Disney Company in August 2007 for the sum of 27 billion dollars, with an additional 5 million dollars in bonuses should specific targets be met by 2009."

Then, under the history and development section, it says the buyout was for $350 million. What gives? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.73.36.175 (talk) 02:40, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Edit request from Zumzizo, 9 October 2010

{{edit semi-protected}} 'The annoyying Sannta' In 2009 an infamous red penguin named 'Zumzizo' started going around the club penguin servers wearing a santa hat, beard and a bell. He would go to each part of the penguin island and constantly ring the bell. Other penguins would get very annoyed and would throw snowballs and call him names on the game. He would write "Annoying Sannnta STRIKES again!!!" and would keep posting this an ringing the bell. He encourages people to dress red, celebrate & spread the word about him. He if usually on Club Penguin between 6:30 and 8:30 and can be found on the full servers most of the time. It is considered rare if you find him as he is scattered all over the servers, and usually spends 15-20 minutes on all the full servers.

Club Penguin grew fast and has over 10 million members, more than half of whom have paid memberships, generating tens of millions of dollars a year. Disney bought the company for $350 million. Regardless of the game's underlying simplicity, its popularity and impact are significant. Club Penguin meets the general notability guidelines for an article. —ADavidB 06:50, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

I'd like to request that this information is updated, with the following copy, which brings the section up to date with Club Penguin's current work. Minor edits proposed to current copy.

Please also note that Club Penguin's donation in 2011 was $2 M dollars, not $1.

Disney’s Club Penguin is a virtual world containing a range of online games and activities designed for children. As penguin avatars, players explore a snow-covered island and play with other kids online. While playing is free, a subscription membership allow players to access additional features, such as the ability to access special areas during monthly parties, play exclusive levels of games and use the coins they earn to purchase virtual clothing, design igloos, and adopt in-game pets called “puffles” for their penguins. With a heavy reliance on user feedback, the developers have adopted a policy to add new content each week. During an annual charity giving campaign called Coins For Change, players are given the opportunity to donate their virtual coins and decide how a $1 M donation is divided among different charities to help kids, families and the environment around the world.

Club Penguin, headquartered in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, is played by kids around the world, and can be viewed in English, German, Portuguese, French and Spanish. The game is specifically designed for ages 6–14, however, anyone of any age is allowed to play Club Penguin. Thus a major focus of the developers has been on child safety, with a number of features introduced to the game to facilitate this — including offering an "Ultimate Safe Chat" mode, whereby users select their comments from a menu; filtering that prevents swearing and the revelation of personal information; and moderators (along with veteran players) who patrol the game.

Adding some information about gameplay

I think somebody should add some information about gameplay. Like the storyline about the in-game missions and basic things like maybe the locations on the islands. I no longer play this game or I would do it myself. Just be sure not to describe in-detail about it. We don't want this article cluttered, just we should have a small section about it. Kringe1 (talk) 01:48, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

I could do it. I can give a summary of what there is on the island, who the notable characters are etc. I can still remember most of it, and I still have an account. But would such information be verifiable? When logging in to Club Penguin, you can confirm it, but does that count? ynof (talk) 01:20, 22 Jan 2016 (CET)

Armies

Under the Fan websites section, we should put an Armies section. Club Penguin Armies are groups of people who get together and meet, battle, and have tournaments. I think there should be more about the game's virtual world, for example its history and notable characters. This will give readers more in-depth information about the game actually is. It would look like this:

Virtual World

Island Club Penguin

The island of club penguin is situated somewhere near the south pole, although the exact location is unclear. It is cold year round, and there is snow present almost everywhere on the island. The is a mountain range in the north, and the rest is mostly flatlands.

Society

There is no known form of central government on Club Penguin, and there are no ethnic groups among penguins. Technology is modern in most fields and often even more advanced, with teleporting devices and jetpacks being widely used. Industries include puffles, mining and fishing. There is one secret agency, the Elite Penguin Force, which is tasked with protecting the island from harm.

Military forces

Though Club Penguin has no official army or real weapons, it has several powerful organizations which contribute to its security. These include:

-Penguin Secret Agency (PSA): Being the first agency which functioned on Club Penguin, it staved off early attempts to harm Club Penguin but was destroyed in the process.

-Elite Penguin Force (EPF): The EPF is an ally of the PSA and took over as the main agency when the PSA went defunct.

-Sensei's Ninjas: Penguins trained to master the arts of a Card-Jitsu, fictional martial art.

-Captain Rockhopper: A pirate captain who loots targets in warmer regions. He sometimes returns to port in Club Penguin, where he sells his gains.

Ongoing Conflicts

Penguin-Herbert Conflict
Involved Parties: Club Penguin Herbert
Forces Penguin Secret Agency, Elite Penguin Force, Independent penguins Herbert the Polar Bear, Klutzy the Crab
Losses The PSA as an independent organization, the PSA headquarters Several machines and tools used in attempts to harm Club Penguin
Results Consolidation of agencies to the EPF, higher levels of alert Escape into the mountains

Discontinuation of Club Penguin: edit request for infobox?

Hey all, Club Penguin was discontinued today, March 29, 2017. So this shows in the infobox at a quick glance, I was thinking of adding this to the infobox:

Hi, Evschweik! Thank you for editing this page!

I have just reverted one of your edits. This edit changed Club Penguin's end date in the History section from March 30, 12:01 PST to March 29. This contradicts the lede, which says that Club Penguin's servers went down on March 30, 12:01 PST.

I have not found any reliable sources that state when Club Penguin's servers actually did go down. The closest I can find is this Club Penguin blog post, which says that penguins would get an "All-Access Pass" until March 30, 12:01 AM PST. However, since we need to go with some date, and this hints that Club Penguin would go down on March 30, 12:01 AM PST, I would prefer to go with that date for both the lede and the History section until a reliable source is found going one way or the other.

Thank you again for editing Wikipedia!

Hi, Hawkeye75! Thank you for editing Wikipedia!

I just reverted one of your edits. This edit changed the date that it was announced that Club Penguin would end from March 29, 2017 to March 30, 2017.

While it is true that Club Penguin actually did end on March 30, 2017, the date that Club Penguin announced that it would end Club Penguin was March 29, 2017. In this Club Penguin blog post, it says:

"we’ve made the decision to discontinue the current Club Penguin game on desktop and mobile devices on March 29, 2017."

So despite the fact that this is not the same date that the game actually ended, this is when Club Penguin announced that the game would end.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Again, thanks for editing Wikipedia!

Content Reversion: 4/6/17 UTC

Hi, Mythlike-Cell! Thank you for editing Wikipedia!

I just reverted one of your edits. This changed a paragraph in the following ways:

Before your edit:
On January 30, 2017, it was announced that the game would be discontinued on March 29, 2017. Club Penguin later shut down its servers on March 30, 2017.
After your edit:
Club Penguin was discontinued on March 29, 2017. Its servers shut down on March 30, 2017.

The point of having the two seemingly redundant sentences is that the date that Club Penguin announced that it would end (March 29) and the date that it actually did end (March 30) are not the same. So before the edit (and as the page currently is), the first sentence specified the announced end date, and the second sentence specified the actual end date. After the edit, however, the two sentences contradicted each other on what date Club Penguin ended on.

I hope that this helps clarify why I reverted your edit. If you have any questions, let me know.

Thanks again for editing Wikipedia!

The only place in the article that uses "laid off" is the first sentence in the section "Decline and discontinuation (2015–2017)". The source does not refer to it as being a form of suspension or firing. A source sentence does refer to workers being "let go". The linked "layoff" article does clearly state that such actions can be permanent. Hello! I was wondering if I could add one of the most popular Club Penguin Private Servers (Club Penguin Online) to the part where Club Penguin Rewritten is. Rockhopper was a celebrity penguin within the game and was the strongest Card Jitsu card. His ship would appear every few months beside the lighthouse and you could collect a stamp in your stampbook if you were in the same room as him. Rockhoppercp (talk) 07:00, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Remove the opening bracket at the start of the article "(", because it isn't encompassing anything or connected to any closing bracket. WorldanGo (talk) 02:49, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

I would like the concerned people to add this in the club penguin wiki. A new cpps called Cpclient.net is available to play. It's currently in the testing phase,as of June 1,2020. But in only two days,it has got 420+ users, with new users registering everyday. It will be available to play after downloading when Flash player ends on 31 December,2020. The game is based on the newer version of club penguin, so it has many features and anyone will like it.Thanks for reading,I hope you can include this information too. 117.207.176.48 (talk) 14:37, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

CPPS shutdown.

This article is kinda inacurrate in regards to the Club Penguin online shutdown. Although the BBC investigation was more high profile. The original whistleblower was Youtube user Joey Hues,an ex CPO employee who made a series of videos explaining the sick occurences on CPO and within the CPO staff. I feel he deserves some credit in this article. The videos he made have since been deleted but they are archived here:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWPPuMKlvO9LuoVZvDwOz4g Kieran207 (talk) 15:06, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

We'd need reliable source(s) that say what you've said about Hues. His archived videos themselves are not considered reliable sources. —ADavidB 01:31, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

Change the line about private servers being shut down, as only one of those servers was shut down due to child pornography and grooming which lead to it being C&d from disney. Remove the line or change it to say only that server was affected Drdodo321 (talk) 09:36, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Specifically, Club penguin online was the server that was shut down Drdodo321 (talk) 09:38, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Note: Sources say that all private servers were sent DMCA takedowns, but don't elaborate on how many of them actually went down. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:19, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
