Article moved as title was misleading[edit]

I've explored the sources provided on this article and checked for further reliable sources around the web. I discovered that Common Dead is in actuality a pseudonym or performing name of one Andrew P. Laurenson or A.P. Laurenson as currently found online. This individual has moved towards publishing work under their natural name, and relevant citation was included on the article to show these findings.

As per the rules for Moving a page this page is appropriately moved as per the below statutes:

The title does not follow Wikipedia's naming conventions, such as that it is not the common name of the subject or it is overprecise.
The subject of the article has changed its name and the new name has come into majority use.

Thus the article was moved as it would otherwise be outdated and potentially misleading. As per the above, actual subject name is an "Andrew P Laurenson" or shorthanded as "A.P. Laurenson" based on more recent activity and publications.

Thus it should be non-controversial change and remain without reversion. Article redirect should be in working order. Metlurg (talk) 21:08, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Name change and sources[edit]

Harping on the "page move" issues appears to be a distraction at this point. I don't care what you name the artist's page, and my edits don't impact this. More alarmingly, are your spiteful and needless revisions to base content that is fully sourced and illuminating the article. Your actions demonstrate that you have literally not read or acknowledged the article contents used for citation. Otherwise, anyone can see their relevancy and enhancement to the article's quality. I was asked to look at this dispute. Regardless of where the page ends up, or its content, it is now time to discuss; I have fully-protected the page until such time as a consensus can be reached. Again, not a hill I want to die on. I've let go the issue of name change/page move on a skeletal level. The meat of the article, if you will, contained valid edits highlighting who is behind this so-called "band" and my investigative work was initially explained on this talk page.

I'll gladly inform the article of any findings, since now it's become such a highlighted issue. In the meantime, we should find truce over the fact that certain body edits were valid in describing the nature of the subject for what it is: one guy with a fake name, to put it crudely.

"Common Dead Releases New Music Video For "Modern Obsolete"". Metal Underground. The song's instrumentation and vocals are the lone work of Common Dead's Andrew Laurenson, and so was the video's overall production and animation segments.

"Common Dead – "Diatribe"". V13.net. Common Dead is the brainchild of metal singer, songwriter and musician Andrew Laurenson.

"Common Dead Streaming Two Full Albums Online". Metal Underground. Common Dead has been on hiatus since the summer while Laurenson is composing soundtrack material under his real name.

Googling from there, found his name more recently with self-titled work and some evidence of screen work that post-date Common Dead. Just look at the dates. If those latter sources are lacking in prestige, I get it, but that's not the whole picture.

The page move was a bad idea for starters. Pickledicae is correct in underscoring the "subject" in terms of identity....Andrew Laurenson may be the single player but that does not change the fact all citation is categorically published for "Common Dead" as the subject, not Laurenson. and it certainly seems obvious that he acted alone (cannot find a single image or source of a full band) and by that virtue alone it should be obvious to be one person. So Chain Gang is a good example to give credit to Metlurg. Article should stay as it was (title Common Dead) but the intro clarified to name Laurenson as the artist of the project since it should not be a article about him as a person . Your last part is literally all I was maintaining in my more recent replies, if you would take a look at the whole thread. Again, I don't care enough to argue more on a page move. I already concede this. I just didn't think talking about Common Dead was different than talking about the sole individual responsible, but whatever, at this point.
