This may be a bit ambitious

The industry includes the myriad of cable, telco, and DBS offerings, blu-ray players, networked av receivers, as well as stand-alone digital receivers and home media players. To make this relevant, you'll need to first capture the major managed service offerings by Comcast, DirecTV, Cablevision, TimeWarner Cable, Verizon FiOS, Dish Networks and Cox (not to mention Tivo and Sling). Each of them currently offers 3 to 5 different STBs. Or you can rename this to cover only stand-alone digital media receivers which I think was the intent. In the short term, at least get Roku in there since they are the number one standalone digital media receiver brand.Mattnad (talk) 07:57, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

List is erroneous

The Western Digital TV boxes DO have web browsers build in to them. It's just hidden. It can be accessed by going to the about screen in the settings, and hitting the search button on the remote. How are streaming devices set-top boxes?

What about an Apple TV or a Chromecast makes it a set-top box? They are not converting any signal into an audiovisual display for a television. They are streaming media over the Internet, the same way any home computer would. If those devices somehow qualify as set-top boxes, then just about any consumer electronic that connects to a TV would be a set-top box! I think the definition needs to be defined in terms of this article, and then the list needs to be purged. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 07:53, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

The article is really misnamed. These are all Digital media receivers. So the definition would then be consistent with what's in the list, including AppleTV and Chromecast. I brought up this point a few years ago. I'm going to propose a move.Mattnad (talk) 14:54, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Consistency

Channel list needs to expand to other countries, maybe more

Currently there is a list of US channels supported on devices.

This needs to be expanded to include Canada, UK, Ireland, Caribbean, and over time other countries (focusing on English speaking countries to start for EN wikipedia, in Africa, Oceania)
