Big Data[edit]

I found this article while doing new-page patrolling, and it seems to me that it represents a rather narrow viewpoint, and should either be expanded with content from the Big_data#Critique, or should even be merged there. I don't know much about the scholarship in this field, however, so I'm not confident to do this myself. --Slashme (talk) 09:02, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a researchers in this area and I think your concerns are valid. I would (predictably) argue that critical data studies does merit its own page. But you are absolutely right that the presentation is quite narrow, notably from the perspective of geography. To be fair it does look like it was created as part of a college class, which might explain its initial narrowness. I just tried to improve matters by referencing the seminal paper by boyd & Crawford which got many people thinking about critical theory and the study of data. I think this article can be massaged into shape. --Edsu (talk) 12:33, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
