I attended Deacons Grammar School from 1951 through 1955 and I know that the statement that it moved to Queens Gardens in 1960 is wrong. It was certainly there in 1951 and was in addition to the old school situated,I think, in Cowgate.Some lessons were at Queens Gardens and others at the old school which housed among others the gym and the sience lab. The old school was situated adjacent to the Perkins Diesel engine works and the sound of diesel engines being tested could often be heard. I recall all pupils being sent home from Queens Gardens upon the death of King George V1.
