Cleanup Tag[edit]

I added a cleanup tag to a section that is redundant and repititious, and which, at points, repeats itself.John Paul Parks (talk) 06:09, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

There was a Delhi Durbar in 1903 as well, and I want to start an article about it. Can I rename this one Delhi Durbar, 1911 or does someone have a different suggestion? Andrew Dalby 22:16, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is a separate entry for Durbar itself. The articles should probably reference one another. - 18 Nov 2006

Expanded[edit]

I have expanded the article to include all three Delhi durbars. Can someone give it a rating?-Marcus 21:00, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I never kept my promise (above), so I'm looking forward to seeing your expanded article -- but it doesn't appear on my screen as yet. Andrew Dalby 22:43, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's there now. Excellent! Andrew Dalby 11:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:INDIA Banner/Delhi Addition[edit]

Note: {{WP India}} Project Banner with Delhi workgroup parameters was added to this article talk page because the article falls under Category:Delhi or its subcategories. Should you feel this addition is inappropriate , please undo my changes and update/remove the relavent categories to the article -- Amartyabag TALK2ME 13:30, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

George VI[edit]

There was no Durbar for George VI (or Edward VIII, but he had no coronation at all). Was this ever considered? Was it not done due to 1930s austerity, or changing sensibilities in Britain, or the increased restlessness of the natives? jnestorius(talk) 01:28, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

King Edward VIII abdicated before his coronation, so there was no opportunity to have a durbar for him. King George VI, in his Most Gracious Speech from the Throne in 1937, expressed his hope that he would be able to travel to India, but the Indian officials told him not to come, as he would not be welcome. After the war, relations were even worse. By the time Queen Elizabeth II ascended the Throne, India was independent, and the durbar was a thing of the past.John Paul Parks (talk) 06:11, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Today[edit]

The text says: "Today Coronation Park is a jealously guarded open space whose emptiness comes as a bit of a shock after the dense traffic and crowded shanty towns of northern Delhi’s urban sprawl. It is mostly overgrown, neglected and locked. The Park is sometimes used for big religious festivals and municipal conventions.[15]"

Actually it is not locked at all. I was there three weeks ago and you can find many boys playing cricket in the park.
