I like the image, Meta.[edit]

Thanks for adding it. Heidi.HHH (talk) 03:22, 6 October 2014 (UTC) Hi guys, I have been working on the Knight page, but I added a picture for this page. It is kind of small, but I had issues trying to resize it. Also, if you want, just delete it. I understand and won't have my feelings hurt. --Meta50973 (talk) 01:36, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello all, sorry for my extended leave, I was out of town this weekend at a wedding. The page looks great! I decided I'm going to narrow my focus to the construction of the spiritual autobiography, so I'll add my section in under the general "spiritual autobiography" section. I'll post soon, I just wanted to look over it one more time and let everyone know what I was contributing. Thanks! :) --Jacquelyn50973 (talk) 19:49, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all, just letting everyone know I've added a section on Ashbridge's abusive second marriage, but I wasn't sure where the most logical placement would be. It's located under Megan's section on the Patriarchy currently (LOVE your work, Megan!), but it still feels kind of awkwardly positioned. If anyone has any suggestions for better placement, I'd be happy to hear them! Thanks! :) --Claire50973 (talk) 19:50, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Wikipedian team! Thank for the kinds words of support, Claire. Also, I think Jamie's idea about expanding on Catholicism is terrific. I hjust wanted to check-in and see what was happening so far.Heidi.HHH (talk) 18:51, 4 October 2014 (UTC) Hi all, I have added to and organized her biography. I also added a section on notability (I combined my own work with some things already written here. Hopefully the change will aid to the overall organization of the page). I tried to incorporate the text that was already here into my work, but if someone wants to edit what I've done, please feel free.--Sam50973 (talk) 00:04, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all, please scratch my earlier comment. On second thought, I would like to hone in on Ashbridge's marriages. I thought it might make sense as a subcategory within Megan's Patriarchy section. I'm going to start working on this, unless anyone has qualms. :) Heidi, Megan, Sam, and Angela--your work looks excellent, by the way!! :) --Claire50973 (talk) 17:00, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jacquelyn, we seem to frequently have similar interests! Haha. :) I'd like to work with you on the Quaker connection section. I was wondering if perhaps we could split it up, somehow. Are there certain areas within that broader category that you're more interested in covering? --Claire50973 (talk) 16:52, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Claire50973[reply]

I've just had another thought...do we want to have a section discussing how Ashbridge was one of the first writers to develop the spiritual autobiography? I'd be happy to add that too, if we think it's useful to the page.--Jacquelyn50973 (talk) 18:09, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello all, I'd like to contribute information about Quakerism, and Ashbridge's relationship with Quakers/Quakerism. If this conflicts with what anyone else is doing, please let me know!--Jacquelyn50973 (talk) 17:55, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings: I would like to address the following for this entry for Elizabeth Ashbridge: touch on indentured servitude as being not all that uncommon in her day, provide a link regarding the stages of a spiritual autobiography and provide context for her writing. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.02:12, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Heidi.HHH (talk)

Heidi, I think that would serve as a wonderful contribution to the page. I would like to address Ashbridge's connection with her spiritual mother and her subsequent resistance to patriarchy. This will include the episodes with her father and her abusive husband. Concerning organization, I was wondering if we should set Some Account of the Early Part of the Life of Elizabeth Ashbridge as a heading of it's own. Beneath this heading we could create subheadings, such as "Indentured Servitude" and "Resistance to Patriarchy." However, this is merely a suggestion, and I will not make any of these changes before receiving additional input.--Megan.R.P (talk) 22:24, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Megan, and fellow Wikipedians: I think that is a sound plan for the heading and organization details. I'm game for it. I'll go ahead and start drafting some details about indentured servitude. However, where do you think we should put the heading for Some Account . . . ? Would after the Biography section work? I'll add in my indentured servitude details once we have some more input regarding the heading and organization. It feels like I haven't edited in ages. It's good to be back.Heidi.HHH (talk) 15:04, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi folks, I revised my previous post a little. Feel free to chime in with questions or suggestions.Heidi.HHH (talk) 15:16, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, everyone. I'm going to work on her bio and a section on notability. --Sam50973 (talk) 16:36, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, since there is a detail or two about indentured servitude: "owned first by a woman in the slave trade and later by the ship's captain. After completing three of the four years of servitude required to pay her passage to the colonies, she bought her freedom with money she earned performing odd jobs and sewing" would it be ok if I deleted that and put in the section for indentured servitude with my contribution? I'll go ahead and add what I have, but I'm not sure what to do with the details that are already there. I don't want to delete anyone's work. Thanks, folks.138.237.241.45 (talk)Heidi.HHH (talk) 18:59, 1 October 2014 (UTC) 18:39, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Megan- I was thinking of writing a section about how Ashbridge has been discussed by feminist scholars and what her works means for feminism/women's rhetoric. I think our sections would work well together. Maybe we could title a big section something like "Resisting Patriarchy" or "A Woman in a Man's World" or something like that- however that would disrupt the "Early Life" theme, so maybe instead we could have a section on her reception and I could fit the feminism angle in there? This could go with Sam's section on notability? What do you guys think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Angela50793 (talkcontribs) 16:54, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Angela, I support your thoughts regarding integrating a secont on her reception with a feminism angle. All the best and happying wiki-ing.Heidi.HHH (talk) 21:00, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Angela, I had already set a tentative title as "Rebellion and Reconciliation with Patriarchy." So your comments should fit perfectly with mine! I follow the text chronologically and identify the instances of patriarchal rebellion in the text. I will go ahead and place my work in the Wiki. Feel free to rearrange my work and input your own or to add a section above/below mine. Also, to go off of what Heidi said about repetition in the Wiki: I was thinking after most of the edits are completed, we could go back over the Wiki and delete some of the statements that seem to be repeated too often? Perhaps everyone could read over the Wiki page near the deadline and delete the comments from their own section that seems unnecessary?? --Megan.R.P (talk) 02:26, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey guys! Sorry I'm jumping in a little late, but I wanted to expand a bit on her views on Catholicism. It talks a bit about Catholicism in the Rebellion and Reconciliation with Patriarchy, which I believe Megan did- Megan, would you mind if I added my stuff in? I don't think there's quite enough for it to go under it's own separate heading. I've got it all written out, so just let me know if that's okay and I'll add it in! --JamieK14 (talk) 15:59, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Jamie, adding your work into my section sounds great! Feel free to move the content around if you need to! --Megan.R.P (talk) 01:43, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

What an amazing life, but why is she notable? First female Quaker preacher?

References Section[edit]

Hi, everyone--I made a very minor edit to the references section so that it is formatted as two rows rather than one in order to preserve space at the bottom of the page. --Cedricktattoo (talk) 16:20, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
