I work for Fathom's PR agency so did not want to post anything directly. However, I am hopeful that the following entries can be added for Fathom (cruise line). Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or feedback. Thank you in advance for considering these additions.

Addition 1 Date of Edit: January 29, 2016 New Section: Cuba Rationale: Adding information about the cruise line's second destination Edits: Carnival Corp., the parent company of Carnival, Princess and eight other cruise brands will launch seven-night cultural immersion tours to Cuba via ship beginning in May 2016, contingent on approval by Cuban authorities. The cruises will be operated bi-weekly out of Miami by the company's new social impact-focused Fathom brand. [1]

The 704-passenger ship Adonia will sail to Havana, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba, offering travelers many Cuba culture and immersion activities. [2]

Addition 2 Date of Edit: January 29, 2016 New Section: Dominican Republic Rationale: Adding information about traveler activities scheduled for Dominican Republic Edits: Impact activities will vary in length from a few hours to several days and will be suitable for a wide range of ages, levels of skill and amounts of physical activity. Activities include:

  • Helping cultivate cacao plants and organic fertilizer at a nursery and assist a local women’s cooperative in producing artisan chocolates.
  • Working side by side with Dominican school teachers in classrooms to teach English skills and help boost students’ academic performance.
  • Participate in adult-learning programs to teach small groups of local community members conversational English to help improve their ability to qualify for jobs that provide a higher level of income.
  • Provide hands-on support to craft and build water filters – using clay, a natural resource found locally – and deliver those filters to families throughout the community to provide healthy drinking water. [3]
  • Help pour concrete for new floors, paint houses, fix broken furniture, clean, or plant fruit trees as part of beautification efforts that will also provide long-term nutritional benefits.
  • Work with special needs patients at a rehabilitation therapy centre with activities ranging from participating in game therapy sessions for children with autism to supporting lab personnel to make and fit cost-subsidised orthopaedic devices and prostheses.
  • Support arts and crafts production with local Women’s Cooperative, including helping with the paper recycling process, helping create arts and crafts for the cooperative to sell, or helping to expand the association’s distribution network.
  • Spending the day with host families, helping with language skills, discussing local community assets that could be leveraged for future tourist income, and discussing ideas for potential micro-businesses that might expand the earning potential of the families. [4]
