Untitled[edit]

I would not support the deletion of this entry (although I am not the author or contributor).

I am uncertain of the exact reason for consideration but from what I can tell it may be either:

No source - existance not confirmed Tricky to know how I can 'prove' this other than to say the Richard Bellamy named in this entry was my great grandfather and Francis' death in China was and remains known in our family. I also have documentary proof of the notification of his death so I can confirm (for what it's worth) that he did exist and the family record supports the detail within the page

Introduction too narrow Whilst accepting that the introduction could be improved, it isn't sufficiently vague to justify deletion on this basis alone. His area of contribution was fairly narrow but he was one of the pathfinders in this period of China's history with the west.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.127.178.133 (talkcontribs)

The article now is fine, but in the moment I marked it was very bad. Now is really better.

Not a genealogical website[edit]

I have kept the basic information about his two sons, but have removed excessive details about their marriages and careers. That is just unencyclopedic and excessive genealogical information which would likely be of interest only to descendants or relatives, and not to the general reader of an encyclopedia. Sites such as Ancestry.com , MyFamily.com, and RootsWeb welcome lengthy family genealogical accounts, with details of every birth, death, marriage and career. See WP:UNDUE. Putting in all details of a son's career is undue weight. If a son is notable by our standards such as WP:BIO or one of its sub-guidelines, then create his own article, but do not use the article on a notable missionary as a hook on which to hang the life details of the descendant.
