Clean up

I propose to do a mild cleanup of part of this article. My proposed text is below. Feel free to make any suggestions or alterations. If there are no suggestions or alterations, I will make the changes in 5 days (23 October).

Text:

Gladys Berejiklian is the first Armenian descendant to be elected to the New South Wales Parliament. She was born and raised in Sydney after her parents immigrated to Sydney, Australia in 1960. She has 2 sisters and 2 godchildren.
Berejiklian attended local schools in Ryde and Willoughby, as well as the Saturday School at Willougby Primary School to learn the Armenian language. She is active in community organizations in Willoughby and Chatswood.
Berejiklian has a Bachelor of Arts (1992), a Graduate Diploma in International Studies (1996) from Sydney University and Master of Commerce from the University of New South Wales (2001). She served a term on the Armenian National Committee of Australia. In 2000, she visited the USA as a delegate from the Australian Political Exchange Council.
Berejiklian joined the Liberal Party in 1993 and was President of the New South Wales Young Liberal Party in 1996. This was a most notable victory as there have only been four female Young Liberal Presidents in the party's history.
She also served as a Delegate to State Council (1996-2003), Urban Representative of the NSW Liberal Party State Executive (1997-2003), Campaign Director for State seat of Willougby (1999) and Chair of Convention Committee (2002).
Prior to her election to Parliament, Ms Berejiklian worked for Hon Peter Collins QC and Senator the Hon Helen Coonan, and as a Manager of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

I understand that you had to remove Koalakiller however putting Koala Saviour without a source is off topic and without source.

Edits by Bradburden

I just cleaned up a heavy POV edit from last year by user Bradburden, who used words like "Iemma Government's failure" and described Berejiklian as "proven very effective". I note that a Brad Burden is among the Liberal Party staffers thanked in a NSW Liberal member's 2005 speech ... 121.44.44.45 (talk) 07:13, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Is the family part re sisters and god-children needed? If we go there , let's mention cousins, aunties, uncles etc................ Hopefully she will be Transport Minister soon and clean the mess up. Her ethnic background info. is great and very interesting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.51.48.185 (talk) 09:29, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Why the mention about her "primary home"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.183.123.210 (talk) 00:38, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Australian Political Exchange Council

This statement " In 2000, she visited the US as a delegate from the Australian Political Exchange Council." without citation should be removed. as per BLP. [WP:BEBOLD] I removed it. CamV8 (talk) 09:54, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

Pacific Highway

I am surprised to see that the widening of the Pacific Highway is regarded as one of her achievements as I am under the impression that this would be the responsibility of the the Minister for Roads and not the Minster for Transport. Also all the references that follow this appear to lead to the same meaningless page.Fleet Lists (talk) 08:03, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

What's the matter with the "frogot to change trains" incident?

I don't understand why the March 9th incident of forgetting to change trains is deemed so significant as to be worthy a mention in such an article. It smacks of a weak attempt to dig up any dirt about her (I'm not a Liberal voter, and still this mention feels out of place). Quite right, and thanks for pointing this out. Removed. Frickeg (talk) 08:15, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

Opera House projection for "The Everest" horse race

As at 7 Nov 2018, the final par of the article reads:

"In October 2018, Gladys bowed to pressure from shock jock Alan Jones[unbalanced opinion?] to permit advertising to be projected onto the world heritage listed Sydney Opera House, drawing widespread condemnation and criticism. It was estimated in a poll that 80% of the public in NSW opposed her free advertising for a commercial horserace.[35]"

Now don't get me wrong, I am anything BUT a Berejiklian Supporter, but this is definitely unbalanced opinion. The sentiment of the paragraph is probably true, but this is a BLP, and we really don't know what went on behind the scenes to allow this projection on to the Opera House. Alan Jones admitted he'd called Berejiklian on his radio show (mentioning that "anyone can do that" - huh!), but we don't know what either party said. And when the projection went ahead, it was watered down to what was originally wanted by the race organisers.

I hate to say it, but I'd be of the opinion the whole paragraph should be removed. What say you all? TheBustopher (talk) 04:54, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Importance of Article - needs to increase??

Wow, I'm chipping in heaps today. At the top of this talk page:

• This article has been rated as C-Class on the project's quality scale. • This article has been rated as Low-importance on the project's importance scale. • This article is supported by WikiProject New South Wales (marked as Low-importance). • This article is supported by WikiProject Australian politics (marked as Low-importance).

I'm sure that these importance ratings were given to the article when the article was first created and Berejiklian was a simple garden-variety Liberal MP, but now the woman is NSW Premier things have surely changed now she's in the top job!

I'm not of enough WP experience to know how these importance ratings get changed (I've been editing for years, but not much more than adding a few pars, fixing bad expression and typo's, etc). Can someone with a bit more knowledge - if they agree - get the importance levels increased?TheBustopher (talk) 05:11, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Temporary lock on edits - Propose

This article may need a temporary lock on edits. The NSW Premier has made some remarks about the testing of drugs and other harm minimising strategies which is likely to cause this page to be vandalised for the foreseeable future. CanberraCamper (talk) 05:34, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 8 January 2020

Premier Berejiklian is responsible for drastic budget cuts in the 2019-2020 budget by the Liberal party for fire and rescue, including a 75 per cent cut for the Rural Fire Service, and offering drought relief funds to towns in marginal seats that aren't effected by drought conditions 122.106.173.52 (talk) 01:54, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

Add a text box which states: "Gladys is often referred to by the title 'Koala Killer,' or 'Arsonist,' this is due to polices adopted by the Berejiklian government which have led to genocidal land clearing levels and likely heightened the effects of the 2019-2020 Bushfires in New South Wales."

Not done: Since this appears to be a bit WP:UNDUE and criticism should be more than a silly nickname. If you'd like to propose a short paragraph about her being criticised for this feel free, but the nickname is not necessary. RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 13:50, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

Remove lock on edits

This article should be allowed to be edited since there are many facts regarding corruption and eco-cide that GB is responsible for. Locking this article erodes the ability of democracy to truly shed light on bad actors SchulzyG (talk) 20:21, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi @SchulzyG:, you must be new around here. You have a total of 4 edits/contributions under your name at the time of me posting this, and since you have made contributions such as this, you can see why you may often come by articles that are locked to semi-protection, and in some uncommon cases Extended protection, and as such why this article is locked out from editing from new contributors such as yourself. Spend time reading up on Wikipedia's policies and guides, such as WP:WWIN WP:NOTABILITY WP:VERIFIABILITY WP:NPOV and WP:BLP, and the dos and don'ts of article editing. -- Tytrox (talk) 14:04, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

Our premier now has a body count of 37 from our current lockdown with many more to come in indigenous communities and since the government can not be honest with its people then I believe it should be noted where it can. 2001:8003:C96E:3300:5912:73F6:CA0B:FC8D (talk) 03:19, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

Independent Commission Against Corruption overlinked

Independent Commission Against Corruption is linked twice in the Lead and twice more in the main text. These should be reduced to one each. The itialism, ICAC, should be introduced at first opportunity and used (without wikilink) subsequently. I tried to do this myself, but it appears I'm not allowed.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:03, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

It seems I'm now allowed. I also reduced announced resignation from twice in Lead to once.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:30, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Resignation

As I understand it, Berejiklian has only announced her intention to resign as of today. The ABC states "Ms Berejiklian says she will resign as soon as the Liberal Party can elect a new leader." As such, I don't see how we can be filling in end dates for her term in office since she remains Premier. Am I missing something? To me this looks like an assumption the resignation is immediate, which is not what I saw in the announcement. 5225C (talkcontributions) 03:22, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

You are correct, people just dont read articles closely enough. TheDataStudent (talk) 03:56, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
