Sydney Trains templates

See here and here for a full list of CityRail templates; the corresponding Sydney Trains templates are here and [1]. I'm no expert on those templates and would even have to do some research to find out the difference between the "right" and "left" templates (possibly an issue of direction?); Template talk:S-line may be a good place to ask for additional help.

On an unrelated note, the templates for the Bankstown line seem to disagree on the destination: "towards Circular Quay" vs. "towards City Circle" - is that deliberate, possibly because the rail line was extended under Sydney Trains? If not, that should be fixed.

On second thought, moving-and-redirecting might have been a wiser decision than duplicating that template. I'll think about that. Huon (talk) 21:23, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Links to sister projects.

In an old page for Strathfield railway station the article contained a photo gallery with some photos under the heading Gallery. In a subsequent edit this was removed and replaced by the link * Media related to Strathfield railway station at Wikimedia Commons under that heading to explain where the gallery photos could now be found. In other station articles such as Rydalmere the gallery was purely replaced by the link under External links as recommended in Wikipedia:Wikimedia_sister_projects#Where_to_place_links However it has been found that users have been critical of this as it does not explain where the gallery photos can now be found, hence the adoption of the Strathfield approach. But another editor has reversed that change on two occasions as it is considered against Wiki policy. This have been discussed with him on his talk page and I agree with him and as such this is not a dispute. See User_talk:Rb119. The alternate use of {{commons category|Strathfield railway station, Sydney}} as displayed here, which was in use in the older Strathfield version does not seem much better. The question I have is: How can we better explain that this link now replaces the Gallery without breaking the Wiki rules or is it acceptable to use the link under a heading such as gallery? I had already made such a change in over 50 other station articles which may now all need to be reversed.

RE: Doubtful posts

Hi there. I've reviewed their overnight posts and the link they've provided. Whilst I don't know the user's background, it does seem overly opinionated, not helped by the link being an online petition. Because of that, I'd say at the very least that it fails WP:NPOV and WP:YESPOV. A solution could be to perhaps re-write this in a more neutral tone - petition's aren't what I'd consider 'reputable neutral sources'.

Transport Links

At Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sydney/Railway stations#Transport Links I raised an issue concerning the inclusion of Transport Link information in the articles on train stations in Sydney Australia. Editor charlesdrakew has recently removed such information from Lindfield railway station and Macarthur railway station on the grounds that they broke the No Travel Guide rules.

There are many more stations such as Wahroonga railway station which contain similar information on which no action has been taken.

After reading the No Travel Guide paragaraph

“Travel guides. An article on Paris should mention landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, but not the telephone number or street address of the "best" restaurants, nor the current price of a café au lait on the Champs-Élysées. Wikipedia is not the place to recreate content more suited to entries in hotel or culinary guides, travelogues, and the like. Notable locations may meet the inclusion criteria, but the resulting articles need not include every tourist attraction, restaurant, hotel or venue, etc. While travel guides for a city will often mention distant attractions, a Wikipedia article for a city should only list those that are actually in the city. If you do wish to help write a travel guide, your contributions would be welcome at our sister project, Wikivoyage.”

I can not see where that rule is broken with the information supplied except possibly the reference to a timetable.

However in November last year the editor concerned deleted similar information from Liverpool railway station which at the time did not contain such references, so that can not be the only problem as far as he is concerned. After I tried to add it back then, he threatened to have me banned if I tried to add it again.

I have tried to ask him in the article referred to as to what he would like to see, but I have not received any reply.

I have also looked at some overseas stations such as Amsterdam Centraal railway station and Den Haag Centraal railway station where considerable bus information is present and which seems to be acceptable.

The comments from Gareth who has been the only person to comment, at least supports that some bus interchange information should be present.

For the sake of consistency in all trains station articles, I would like to know where I go from here. I would be happy to delete the timetable references if this is considered a problem and replace them with a reference to the website of the operator concerned.Fleet Lists (talk) 06:14, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Last night the Transport Links section for Circular Quay railway station was deleted. As this did not have timetable references, this can not be the only consideration. I have removed your RFC. Right now you're in an editorial dispute involving another editor. The conversation at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sydney/Railway stations#Transport Links is very difficult to follow for any outside reader. Even reading the entire discussion, it's not clear what you want or how you want the community involved. Do you want someone to step into the middle of your argument with the other editor? Even so, that's not really how RFC is set up if you've read the page about it, so it's not surprising you're having trouble attracting attention. Even your help request is long, draws attention to things I don't see as relevant and again it's difficult to exactly ascertain what you're asking. I think you're treating this like a court case to which it's not. Including things like the history of the dispute you're having with this other editor, the sequence of events, whether you received a reply, the one lone supporter you have, etc. isn't of much relevance to someone reading the conversation unless they're here to moderate it. An RFC is not a community moderation panel.

You can attempt to seek a third opinion once your conversation has been exhausted with the other editor. It is more set up as a judicial process in which you'll state your case, the other party will state theirs, and they'll offer you their opinion. Again, they won't come into the middle of your conversation and for you to expect them to read the entire previous discussion and follow along. You'll have to restart your argument with them in a summarized statement. If that fails, I suggest you write a clear and concise, emphasis on concise, question you wish to ask the members of the WikiProjects. Ask it in one place and direct their attention to it. IF that fails to draw attention, then turn it into WP:RFC but you need to read the entire page first. An RFC is not a request for comment on a drawn out conversation you're already having. Specifically look at the example section. It's a short and clean statement which the community will either support or oppose your proposal. Look at the other on-going RFC's to see how they're run. RailCorp's role

Hi, I see you're referencing RailCorp's asset-holding role in relation to NWRL. Although RailCorp continues to exist as the formal owner of the existing rail network, this does not necessarily mean new and additional assets will be transferred to RailCorp ownership – and I haven't seen anything public to suggest they will be. Hi again. That's not how it works. I have challenged your contention that RailCorp will own the NWRL. You need to provide a citation to restore it, not demand I prove a negative. Conversely, if you want to challenge the contention that TfNSW will be the owner, you can remove it or add a citation-needed tag.

While it's possible RailCorp will evolve into a general transport asset holding company, that hasn't happened yet, or (to my knowledge) been announced. It's also unlikely to proceed under RailCorp's current name. (In any case, TfNSW is the parent agency to RailCorp, so I don't see what the issue is.) Mqst north (talk) 21:54, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

Edit warring

To prevent this going any further I am not sure where to go next with this. A recent new member has been deleting information from a number of New South Wales railway stations on the basis that it is not correctly referenced. The deleted information generally consists of Platform Boxes for which normally no references are required. However he thinks differently. Some stations concerned are Oak Flats railway station, Gerringong railway station, Berry railway station and Bomaderry railway station. Discussion on this was started by another editor on the user's talk page User_talk:Mqst_north#A bit of free advice and has continued there. I have restored the deleted information but I suspect that he will again the delete the information and I do not want to get into an edit war on this. I think we are getting somewhere - I have already replied to each of them. In fact for the bus operators my suggestion to adopt what is in Liverpool railway_station#Transport links is very similar to what you have since done in Bomaderry although I prefer to keep the standard heading "Transport Links" which I believe is more meaningful. Also there is a page Wikipedia:WikiProject Sydney/Railway stations which is well out of date - I did one update earlier this year but should be updated to confirm what we ultimately agree on so that this sort of thing will not come up again. It is interesting to see that this page does not mention the blue bus symbol but just mentions "bus", "train", etc.Fleet Lists (talk) 08:30, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

I have no objection to that subheading being restored. As for the blue B logo, that makes sense in official contexts, but here it has no meaning. Since it's English Wikipedia, there's no need for a symbol when the word 'bus' is widely understood. Mqst north (talk) 08:38, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

I notice you made a change to the WestConnex article in order to revert an edit of mine. (I also notice that one of your previous edit to this page included putting a link to an online anti-WestConnex petition – which I would regard as a pretty blatant violation of NPOV.) I realise you and I have our differences on railway station pages, which I'm doing my best to engage with constructively, but going through my contribution list and needlessly reverting changes elsewhere on Wikipedia is not the way to move forward. WestConnex is really five distinct road projects; "WestConnex" is a politically-conferred monicker, best understood as a scheme or program of works. So to put an infobox on it that focuses on operational data like exits and interchanges is inappropriate – the place for that is the separate M4 and M5 pages. Wasted time

user:Grahamec It appears that I have been wasting my time maintaining the information on Sydney and New South Wales train stations over the past year or so after most other editors in this area have either retired or are no longer active for other reasons. Recent upstart member User_talk:Mqst_north who seems to believe that consensus means his own opinion, is continually destroying long established information, doing away with templates which are used worldwide and replacing them with very minimal information - with stations like Kiama railway station now not even showing what train services use the station. The historic information he has added is great but it should not be at the expense of service information. This is being discussed at Talk:Bomaderry railway station#Platform allocations and also at User_talk:Mqst north#A bit of free advice where so far no consensus has been reached but this has not stopped him continuing his destructive posts at other stations like Kiama. It is a pity that the great work done by previous contributors to these stations, is now being destroyed by someone who is obviously only interested in what he wants and has no respect for what others think. He has even gone to the extreme of accusing me and another contributor who opposed him, to be sockpuppets. This is not the only occasion on which he has accused opponents, who did not involve me, of being sockpuppets. Hence I think it is time I went on to do other things which hopefully will not be destroyed in this manner.Fleet Lists (talk) 22:32, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

Massive Page Blanking in NSW transport articles

I don't know anyone who regularly edits these articles but it seems User:Mqst_north has been going through the articles in this area and blank -> redirecting large articles. User:SavonneuxThank you for contacting me. I have just about given up in disgust. This user has hit us like a cyclone and has made numerous changes against consensus. See four paragraphs above this one and also Bomaderry railway station and the talk page, where he has deleted the standard platform boxes and service direction platforms which he claims are not acceptable as they they are not referenced yet they are used worldwide in stations. He has done this in all station listed on his home page under South Coast Line. Also see User talk:Mqst north#A bit of free advice. I prepared an Admin report on him which no one acted on and has been archived. He also reported me and another user who disagreed with him as Sock Puppets. I suspect that this time he is trying to delete soo me date and replace it with Templates. Also he got an admin to rename two Sydney stations which was done but this was immediately protested against by Scottish user s and hence the rename was reverted, but this user is still trying to get it done. He just does not want to listed to anyone else. As a result of this I have just about given up trying to keep some sense in these articles. Unfortunately all past editors who have worked on these pages have retired or moved on. Thoughts about sandbox

I have seen the thank you note you left on my talk page, and thank you for starting the on demand section yesterday. I have expanded the list of on demand services, similar to the one on Transport Info website.

As for your draft prose on your sandbox, I think it is good, but I think a simpler table should remain to summarise the current contracts and operator, while the history will be explained in the prose. Prior history for each region (particularly around 2004) can also be explained, as many bus operators (eg. Baxter's Bus Lines Region 13, Harris Park Transport Regions 4 and 7) gave up and sold their businesses to the larger operators, possibly as a result of the implementation of contract regions. Deleting a redirect

I have now been on wiki for nearly four years and during that time have made over 6000 edits - mainly cleaning up Transport items in New South Wales Australia.

I was under the impression that to delete a redirect to allow a new page to replace it I had to request that to be done by an administrator. However I noticed that an editor en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Kerinlong who only joined on 20 August 2018 appears to have deleted a redirect himself - see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/delete at 14.31 (Sydney time Australia) today.

Autoconfirmed users can move a page onto certain redirects; it happens automatically as part of the move and is not a separate delete action. Moving over redirect explains that the redirect must have only one entry in its edit history and must be a redirect to the page being moved onto it. This particular adaptation allows undoing of moves, which normally leave behind a single-edit redirect, without having to get administrators involved. — jmcgnh^{(talk) (contribs)} 06:46, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

The change from Gordon to Lindfield has worked fine but not the change from St Leonards to Artarmon which also does not display above. This was missed by the editor 122.106.246.104 Nothing is now displayed for trips towards Central. I only picked this up last night when I was cleaning up some edits made by the same editor a bit earlier. It took a bit of looking to figure this one out. As best I can tell, what you saw was because Artarmon was not in the list at {{NSW TrainLink intercity stations}}. So I added it and I think that has fixed the immediate problem you pointed out.

For some reason, the scheme used by this template was different from the scheme used by {{Sydney Trains stations}}, which uses a default construct to find stations whose article names (or redirects) follow the naming convention even if they are not in the list. medalist vs medallist

This is an American English (medalist) vs British English (medallist) issue. I note that medallist exists and redirects to medalist but equally it could be the other way around (it depends on who first wrote the article, a Yank or a Brit), e.g Icing (food) is named with British English rather than the American term "frosting". All efforts to replace "icing" with "frosting" at Lamington are fought off (as lamingtons are Australia, therefore its outer layer must be spelt the Australian way). All of these variants-of-English arguments were resolved years ago and the principles are documented at WP:COFAQ#ENGLISH. For articles to which Australian English applies, we tend to defer to the Macquarie Dictionary (if anyone has one handy) or look at what appears to be the more common usage in Australian writing. For example, a quick search of the ABC website (which tends to be a good indicator of educated Australian English) produces 270 articles using "medalist" against over 5000 using "medallist", so Australian English would appear to follow British English in the use of "medallist" and Maryborough is Australian content. Photos on railway station pages

I've removed the galleries from Rhodes and St Peters. I have to say that, as a user of pages, I generally prefer to see a few photos on the article page than to go to commons, which often has a lot of poor photos that do not add to the quality of the article page. Sometimes it is difficult to see if there is a link to commons and sometimes there is no link, but there are actually photos at commons. I only use commons to upload my photos because it seems to be an easier process than loading them via the wikipedia article. I have been adding photos for NSW heritage items and, in that regard, have added photos for the Auburn Railway Signal Box and the Burwood rail underbridge and I propose taking photos of the Ultimo Road railway underbridge. One walks over the latter when walking along the walk to Darling Harbour from Central but I can't find that subject covered specifically at Wikipedia. Anyway, no more galleries from me as far as railway station pages go. Collywolly (talk) 21:14, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

Strings in templates

I am trying to learn more about certain templates facilities. {{str right|{{{1}}}|1}} as I see it gives the information from the string, bypassing the first character. But how would I code it if I only want the 2nd, 3rd and 4th characters ie - a length of 3 characters? Brisbane train timetables

Thinking about it a little bit more, I *think* it may be possible for me to use AutoWikiBrowser to seek out the manual citations to the timetables (whether before or after your recent manual updates to the articles) and replace them with our new templated citations. And then as you expand the template to cover other kinds of public transport, we can probably do something similar with them. I say "*think*" because it involves a computer reading and recognising manually written things and sometimes that is not a computer's particular strength. However, I would hope that I could do the bulk of them that way, and then I can think of another way to identify the "left overs" which might need to be done manually. Before I start that though, I need to know you are happy with the templates for the Brisbane railway lines before I start using them for real. Initially I will be targetting the railway stations on the Brisbane lines. Later as the template is expanded to other services, we can repeat the exercise. @Kerry Raymond:When I received your message I was just in the process of adding an entry for the Inner North timetable which is different to the others in that it does not have an intermediate page which points to the PDF. That will be the last of the Brisbane train ones as far as I know. So I think the template is now ready to do whatever you would like to try. Any help in that area would be greatly appreciated. I tried some bus timetables in Varsity Lakes railway station to prove that will also work but from there is a lower priority part of the exercise. OK, I have updated all the railway line timetable links (or so I hope). For working out what bus routes need to be added to the template, you may find these two search links useful in locating any existing links to Translink timetables (just click on them and they will do the search):

Note the only difference between the two is the first searches for "http" and the other "https". While there appear to be a couple of 200 in total between them, there are not as many as that in terms of updating the Queensland Timetables template. Obviously some of the them are duplicates as a number of stations may connect to the same bus route. Also a number of them are on Talk pages, Sandboxes, etc and can be ignored. If you can update the template with the desired citation for the bus routes, I can go through and update the articles themselves to use the Template in the same way as I did the railway stations. It doesn't have to be done in one pass. If you want to just add a few bus routes to the template, I can update the articles to use the template for those routes you've just added, then we repeat the process until it's all done. @Kerry Raymond:Unfortunately I dont think the bus timetables are as simple as the train ones in some respects. Take Beenleigh_railway_station which has eight timetables with 4 references but under the proposed system each route will have its own reference as each route has its own intermediate page. So it wont be a simple replacement for each route. It looks to me like very much a manual process which I wont object doing. This was already the case in of Varsity Lakes railway station which I did as a trial. Perhaps you could do the timetables with single routes, leaving multiple ones to me.Fleet Lists (talk) 03:06, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Hmm. Looking at Beenleigh railway station, I see you are reusing the citation with a multiple route title. You could instead do individual citations for each route number, which just happen to have the same URL in them? After all, Translink might split/aggregate timetable information differently the next time around. But I think it's your call - you are the one doing the work. @Kerry Raymond: I think we have four options. 1 Just link as you suggest. 2 Link with {{Queensland Timetables|Gold Coast}} and change the template to accept both the Airport and Gold Coast options in case at some future time they have separate timetables, 3 as per 2 and also change the stations on the Gold Coast side of the City to use the Gold Coast option instead of Airport and 4 as per three create a separate entry in the template as there is a separate page for the Gold Coast [16] . Tool bars and editors

Just a comment. I notice that you tend to use the old format for creating citations and I wondered if this might be because you had a fairly long time away from Wikipedia and weren't aware of some of the changes that make contributing a lot easier. To enable these, there are two preferences to set. The first one is the citation form for use in the source editor (which I can see you use, as if you use the Visual Editor, if flags it as such in the edit summary). When logged in, go to Preferences top right of any screen, then select the "Editing" tab, then scroll down to "Enable the editing toolbar" and make sure it is ticked. If not, tick it and click on Save (lower left of screen). The effect of this is to give you a toolbar that has a "Cite" button, which when clicked, displays a Template dropdown list to let you create web citations, news citations, etc by filling in the fields of a form and it makes the {{cite web}} or {{cite news}} markup automatically. The other innovation is the Visual Editor which makes contributing to Wikipedia similar to using Microsoft Word (what you see is what you get, more or less). I use Visual Editor a lot for content editing. To enable it, again go to Preferences, then Editing and then make sure that "Temporarily disable the visual editor while it is in beta" is NOT ticked and that (immediately below) "Editing mode:" is set to "Show me both editor tabs" (and then Save lower left). This will give you two ways to edit any article, using the Visual editor (the tab called "edit") or the traditional source editor (the tab called "edit source"). Visual editor makes many things easy. Citations are Cite > Manual > Web (for a web citation) and fill out a form. Clicking on a citation enables you to edit it the same way or to copy and paste it (the same as doing <ref name=blah/> in the source editor) or you can do it with Cite > Reuse and pick from the list of citations. You can even copy and paste content (including citations) between articles (provided both articles are open in Visual Editor). And of course if you find you don't like these new tools, you can go back to Preferences and disable them. Happy to answer any questions about any of these things. Blocked URL's

Earlier today I came across a blocked URL (I assume by Firefox) in Z-class Melbourne tram http://www.hawthorntramdepot.org.au/trams/yt81.htm which I rightly or wrongly changed to an archived version of the URL. An External link search also found this URL in Karachi to Melbourne Tram which I also updated the same way. I then did an external link search for the shorter http://www.hawthorntramdepot.org.au/ which brought up another 102 links in various pages which all appear to be blocked. It would help to know a bit more about your sense of "blocked URLs". The URLs you mentioned are not blocked for me and it's not yet time to insist that all URLs use https. This website tries to trick visitors to submit sensitive personal information such as login data or credit card numbers. Go Back to previous page?" This than gives options "Go Back" or "Ignore thread" It then gives an option to report an incorrectly blocked page which goes to [17] and includes the name of the URL concerned. The message then shows webpage www.eset.com at the bottom of the message. So far I had not been prepared to take the ignore thread option. Sorry I had not supplied more information initially. Eset is a company that sells anti-virus and similar programs. It's beginning to look like you're seeing a false positive. @Dave Rave: Undoubtedly you are correct in that respect. But the editor concerned has over the past three months or so made at least 40 edits using 5 different IP addresses, all but one of which have been reverted, to at least 20 railway stations mostly in Victoria but also Roma Street in Brisbane where he generally has changed the operator style of the station concerned. If in Victoria changing from Metro to V/Line and vice versa but in most cases also making some other subtle changes like in this latest Albury case adding a blank in the main photo name hence it not displaying and changing the next station from Wangaratta to Seymour. Once an IP address is blocked he seems to move to another one. One of the IP addresses has been blocked four times so far. Cheers Fleet Lists (talk) 10:31, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

It is a pain - If I get it right the 1953 and 1971 formats of the IMO documents suggest that the Indian Ocean goes to Bass Strait, but some Australian authorities suggest it stops at Cape Leeuwin, and in some edit wars of the last 10 years, the Southern Ocean has existed (or not). In my opinion this pointer isn't needed as Sydney Trains is quite distinct, being the larger network and having its own brand. Perhaps there can be a pointer to Railways in Sydney, which may or may not be justified. Toronto line

Hi,

You recently reverted my addition of the Toronto line to Railways in Sydney#Closed lines based on the line not being in Sydney. It is, however, mentioned on List of closed Sydney railway stations and I was wondering if you'd agree with me that it should accordingly be removed here too. @Trainsandtech: Yes definitely should also be removed from there. Should we have an equivalent for closed stations and lines outside of Sydney? Only recently I was thinking about this when it was suggested that Dunmore railway station should be deleted from the NSW Trainlink list of stations. That was solved by instead of deleting it, it was treated as a previous name for Shellharbour Junction railway station but that may not have been the ultimate solution. Or should Category:Closed regional railway lines in New South Wales and Category:Disused regional railway stations in New South Wales suffice. I think the latter would be good enough. There would be a lot of work creating new lists covering all those stations. Perhaps a reference should be included in the Sydney lists as to where regional ones can be found. Also before posting a new item a "New section" should be created with an appropriate name which I have done here. The Talk:Ashbury, New South Wales page is also such a mess because various new items have been created without a new heading, thereby making it virtually impossible to follow what is what. Where you add references to an article they should use the correct reference format so that the references are included in the reference section at the bottom of the page. If you do register I could email you more information. Your email address will not be shown to any other editors including me but any editor can use the wiki email address allocated to you (you probably wont know what it is) and wiki then transfer messages sent to that email address to your email address and vice versa. @Rich Smith: Thank you for moving the file. I have now been able to add the category statements. At Cronulla railway station, Sydney it leaves the name somewhat short as it makes no mention that it is at Cronulla station. But what confuses me more is why it had to be moved - does this always have to be done when uploading a file which I want in commons or can it be done direct? And if I need to move them I will need to find out how to do it - the fact that the original of this one now needs to be deleted makes me think that I should be able to do it direct. Services in general

Also, if you don't mind, I'd like to uncollapse the services on most articles that have one to few services (like this), and leave the articles with many services (like this for example) collapsed. Also thank you for adding the "one way" to the Journey Beyond entry for Central. But I have added "From Perth" to it to show the direction in which the one way applies - I found it confusing without that. Also I have tried to add this entry to Central railway station, Sydney replacing part of the existing old code but I have not had any luck. Module:Adjacent stations/Sydney Trains

@Cards84664:I have just added T8 the last live line as far as I know. Now there is recently closed T6 Carlingford Line Should that be added here as Carlingford Line or should there be a separate module for closed lines? Town Hall railway station, Sydney

I can not get the through-right parameter on T2 or the through-left parameter to work on T8. Also as far as I can see the through parameter is on the wrong side in T8 in the current Town Hall article. @Cards84664:Thank you for your efforts there. I see where I went wrong. However it showed that what I really wanted to achieve is not supported ie have both a destination station and the through parameter especially at other stations on the City Circle loop. Hence I abandoned the idea of using the through parameter so that I can use the same format in both directions at all stations concerned. I should have Town Hall ready for upload tomorrow. Also I found that User:Mackensen had already created a module Module:Adjacent stations/State Rail Authority sometime last year - to keep track of them all I have added an existing template category to that and the three modules we have created - we will still need to create one for Sydney Ferries. This is going to be a big job with probably over 60 templates to be deprecated as we go along. Should we wait to request their deletion until it is all done or should we request a deletion every 10 or so templates which have expired? Some templates which were replaced in 2019 still need to be deleted. Also I am not planning to update articles like this User:MrHarper/RB. Fleet Lists (talk) 04:53, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

Cootamundra, Metro and Newcastle Interchange

@Cards84664:Thanks for making those changes to Cootamundra which I cannot finish until I add the appropriate line information to the module concerned. Also I need to change the line key for Sydney Metro from M to M1 - I copied the M from a template which had a bug in it which resulted in some calls being rejected. I will be adding the second line later this week as M2.By chance I found this template Template:CityRail color/null which did not have category in it. This flagged a number of Metro entries for the second line as errors which I sorted out yesterday. And now for a question. What should we do with Newcastle Interchange? It is the only location which uses the Newcastle Light Rail templates. Is it worth creating a separate module just for that? None of the other NSW light rail lines use such templates. Hey, do you mind if you could warn the user at User_talk:124.168.131.35 for vandalism for their edit you reverted on NSW TrainLink fleet? I think that the user meets the requirement for a admin block (5 warnings so far and vandalism within the past couple of days), but it got rejected the other day. Queensland Adjacent stations

@Cards84664: I have not found anyone who could do the Adjacent stations for Queensland so today I created the first module for TransLink Module:Adjacent stations/TransLink and then tried to update Cultural Centre busway station which worked except that I could not get the right option of "Woolloongabba or Springwood" to work from the module. But then I added "|to-right2=Woolloongabba or Springwood" after which it worked OK. But I did not think there should be need to add that. @Techie3: Great - well done - but [18] still lists 11 stations which need to be done - mainly planned stations but 4 on the Albury line are not. As far as Caroline Springs is concerned, I have added a wikilink to the Melton line in the V/Line module which supplies a better link in the stations which contain this line. @Plastikspork: Why should I mind? Anything to improve the situation. I am more concerned that I am making a nuisance of myself with all the large template delete request which I have submitted recently - one of which you acted on yesterday. I have at least another four lots to go and also a few smaller ones. I am still very much in the learning process as how this should be handled as I have not previously been involved in this area. Every time I look I find more of these old templates which need to be deleted. Nothing has been done on South Australia so far. Adelaide Metro colourbox issue, help please!

Hey there! The colour code and name for the Tonsley line needs to be replaced with the Flinders line name and colour. Do you happen to know or know someone who knows how to change the name and colour of the Tonsley line to the Flinders line in the colourbox at Template:Adelaide Metro line colourbox? I tried to do it myself, but it didn’t work as I think there’s another separate template or something that it relies on. The reason I ask is because I've asked various people active on SA public transport articles, but no one responds on their talk pages. Also, this is because in List of railway stations in Adelaide, the links to Tonsley line in the Railway line(s) column of the table need to be changed to Flinders line. @Fork99: Good one. See Template:Rail-interchange for which rint is short. Go to Specific by Country and click on Australia where you will then find what is defined for the various cities including Adelaide. We can not edit that but need to submit changes through its Sandbox and tested in its testcase before requesting the changes on the template talk page. I requested some changes to Sydney in September and Melbourne in early December but it appears that those requests have been archived by now. Sandbox [19] and testcases [20] If I remember correctly it is easier to update the testcases first and then the sandbox where you can use the testcases to prove that the changes suggested are working correctly before they can be accepted by the Admin concerned. @Fork99: No problem - that is exactly what it should be as it does not exist in the current system. I have added Tonsley to the testcases and it shows in the current system but not in the new one. BUT Tonsley in the existing system already shows the wrong default colour as it has already been removed from Template:Adelaide color, You would need to explain that when you make your submission as that is a question the admin is likely to ask.Fleet Lists (talk) 06:37, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
