Ministry of Defense

Would someone please revert the latest edit concerning the alleged "sacking" of the Minister of Defense (Bratislav Gašić). The Minister is still in position and no official sacking has ever taken place despite some ambiguous statements by the Prime Minister. Important notice

The government section of the "Outline of Serbia" needs to be checked, corrected, and completed -- especially the subsections for the government branches.

When the country outlines were created, temporary data (that matched most of the countries but not all) was used to speed up the process. Those countries for which the temporary data does not match must be replaced with the correct information.

Please check that this country's outline is not in error.

Random removal of content by Buttons

I think this needs to be stopped. People worked hard to assemble this article for a user to just barge in and randomly remove things from the article. For an example he randomly removed half of the Government agencies and offices, there cannot be any explanation for removing Republic Broadcasting Agency but leaving Bankruptcy Supervision Agency (as an example of these disruptive edits). All of the agencies should be listed, simple as that. There is no reasonable explanation as to why would someone remove one and keep the other when there is no difference between the agencies. What is the next step? Remove a few ministries?

On top of that he removes images from the article, again no reason for that.

And finally he says that the expose of the Prime Minister, ie. "The key principles of the Government" should not be in the article because they are the same for any country. Yeah I am sure that the Government of Denmark is based on "Stepping up efforts to combat crime and corruption." and I am sure that "Non-acceptance of the independence of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija." is the key principle of the Canadian Government and I am absolutely certain that the "Commitment to a European future" is the number one principle of the Cabinet of Burundi /irony off.--Avala (talk) 12:00, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

My my... selective story telling now Avala?... ehh, not really surprised. Not that anyone really cares about your butthurt feelings Avala, but I'll play along. For the list of government (note: Executive branch) related agencies of Serbia please see the government webpage here, apologies to users who can't read Serbian or the Cyrillic alphabet. At this point in time I would like to remind Avala that some agencies are not under the authority of the government (again executive branch) but under the parliament (Legislative branch) or Judiciary. Keep in mind this article is exclusively the executive branch...

Moving along

The irony of your "irony" is that you hijack (my uh...keyboard?) and create a (albeit hilarious) reconstruction of my argument regarding the principles. Ruharhar! Indeed, those are rather silly conclusions of Canada and Burundi aren't they? Gee you really hit the nail on the head with that one.... only... I somewhat remember, quite possibly, ever so slightly... leaving this little totally "unimportant" fact...

You haven't said absolutely anything in your reply, you just lambasted me and focused on me. Cabinet reshuffle

Hi – in light of the upcoming cabinet reshuffle I recommend adding the following below the list of cabinet ministers:

On 28 July 2013, following an announcement earlier in the month by First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić of an imminent cabinet reshuffle with a view to making macroeconomic policy a government priority, Finance Minister Mladjan Dinkic ceded his economy portfolio to the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

As there is now a new Finance Minister, I propose amending the above to read:

In August 2013, Lazar Krstic – a US-educated McKinsey consultant – was named as the new Finance Minister after Mladjan Dinkic ceded his portfolio to the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić had previously announced a cabinet reshuffle with a view to making macroeconomic policy a government priority. Government agencies, offices and other

The list of external links in the Government agencies, offices and other section directly conflicts with the policy WP:NOT. WP:NOTDIRECTORY, a subsection of the policy explicitly states that Wikipedia is not a directory or list. Since this would be my first edit to the article, I'll wait for a few days before removing the list to give editors a chance to argue why the list should not be removed (please don't waste time by not backing up your arguments with pertinent policies or guidelines). Second cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić

Since Serbia recently received a new government, I moved Cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić to First cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić, and updated the Serbian parliamentary election, 2016 with the outcome. As result, there is now redlink Second cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić. What to do with it?

1. Redirect it to Government of Serbia for the time being (until a new cabinet takes place or a minister gets changed). That would be a good temporary solution anyway.
2. Create a new page, virtually identical to Government of Serbia (but the categories will be different)
3. Something else?

I would just add the number after the name of the cabinet (Cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić II, Cabinet of Vojislav Koštunica II, Cabinet of Stavča Mihailović II, etc). Adding "The second cabinet of..." to the title just makes it too long. But, do whatever you want. You made some mistakes on the "Cabinets of Serbia" template, but I've corrected them. When it comes to this particular issue you've mentioned, I'd just leave the page for now, and allow it to be redirected. (WikiNameBaks (talk) 09:21, 17 August 2016 (UTC))

Naming of cabinets is a separate issue. I somewhat WP:BOLDLY moved a couple of pages to First cabinet of Vojislav Koštunica etc. but stopped. For me a title such as Cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić II is a) misleading, suggesting that the prime minister's name was "Aleksandar Vučić II" and b) contrary to general naming conventions – we don't append "I, II" etc. unless the sources do. We should check out what is the common cabinet naming for other countries. Brevity is a virtue, but not at any price. But let's leave that for a second round. Here's how the Croats do it: Cabinet of Ivo Sanader II, Slovenians: Cabinet of Janez Janša II, Macedonians: Cabinet of Nikola Gruevski IV, etc. Others do it the other way. I just wanted to point out that there isn't an official way of naming the cabinets, and both ways are good. Some even do it the third way, like the Slovaks: Fico's Third Cabinet. @No such user: Second cabinet of Vojislav Koštunica seems like a quite good and logical answer to your dilemma - use it as a role model, and create Second cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić and add there data about ministers, etc for period after 11 August 2016. --Sundostund (talk) 13:48, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

@Sundostund: The key difference here is that the Second cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić is the current Government of Serbia, so it feels kind of lame to have the same table twice in two articles. We will have to create it eventually, of course, once we get a new cabinet...

Ahh, now I get it: the table is located in Template:Government of Serbia transcluded into Government of Serbia. Still, what will happen once they change a minister? We'll still have to fork it... or just subst it, maybe? No such user (talk) 14:30, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

@No such user: Template:Government of Serbia contain data about the current composition of government (present ministers, etc). Second cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić should contain data about the whole period of the cabinet (participating parties, changes of composition, former ministers, reconstructions, etc). --Sundostund (talk) 14:38, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

P.S. Do you mind if I tone down or, preferably, remove those jarring colors? Ministers' party affiliation is important, but not that important to visually dominate the whole table (see WP:COLOR).

@No such user: Yes, create Second cabinet of Aleksandar Vučić. We'll add more content in it as time goes by... Please, be more precise about "subst'ing the Template" - what you mean by that? Syntax {{subst:Government of Serbia}} will simply copy the whole template contents into the target page, i.e. basically the same as if you copy/paste everything from the template, except noincluded parts. Gotta run now, thanks. No such user (talk) 15:18, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
