Alphabetical order?[edit]

It's stylistically jarring to continuously see the U.S. and Canada listed in alphabetical order. There's no consensus for this, except perhaps for some discussion buried somewhere in the bowels of this site between Canadian high school students that made the determination that countries should be listed in alphabetical order. From an American perspective it seems rather ostentatious to read about an American prize that's awarded primarily to Americans described as being "open to citizens and permanent residents of Canada or the United States." (I also changed "or" to "and" for obvious reasons).

I changed it to the order as it is used on the Guggenheim Foundation site, which is also the order in which the overwhelming majority of people who live outside of Canada would think about and relate to the two English-speaking countries of North America.

If you decide to take it upon yourself to change it, make sure you alphabetize "Latin America" and "Caribbean", but please don't bring back the "or"'s. --AntigrandiosËTalk 21:17, 31 May 2012 (UTC) [reply]
