recent addition, crime[edit]

there was an off campus assault. the event is being added to the school page as a notable incident.

as it is only tangentially related to the school, the edit was removed for notability.

No. It was between masses of students from the school. To say it was "off campus" 1) is a gatekeeping, personal distinction of your arbitrary choosing and B) disingenuous. The assault happened on the road that immediately borders the school. It was _NOT_ 'tangentially' related at all; the school has a notorious distinction of similar violence, and this violence is directly attributed to the school and it's students. I have returned the edit. You dont get to choose to remove edits and police their inclusion -- to your personal satisfaction -- on the talk page.
And I've trimmed it again. An IP from Ontario shouldn't be trying to speak with authority about something they only have secondhand knowledge of from the sources they themselves added, most of which aren't considered reliable. This is WP:ONEEVENT, notable because it's "viral", and nothing else, as with most things these days. I'm willing to give it a mention, with a reliable source, but considering no one even knew the HS was involved in a Supreme Court case until someone added it, this shouldn't be more than a brief item. 146.115.58.160 (talk) 20:23, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An IP from YOUR location should speak with authority then? Every word in the article is amply supported by the many references. Your label as "viral" is a convenience to be dismissive; the matter is notable enough to be discussed by members of Missouri government and hundreds of articles across the globe - your opinion of it's notability is not inline with local and state authorities. Your tone ("I'm willing to give it a mention") is gross, arrogant gatekeeping - YOU dont own wikipedia. Your last statement re: SCTOS is nonsensical - what does that matter _at all_? Please stop gatekeeping. 24.57.55.50 (talk) 15:43, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to add [This earlier discussion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Hazelwood_East_High_School#Are_we_sure_the_highschool_brawl_section_is_needed?] on the Hazelwood East High School talk page for the sake of relevancy. Both of these users below already argued about this earlier. Vladimir Hunter (talk) 22:15, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
