A fact from Hilda Lyon appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 28 July 2017 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that the hull of USS Albacore(launch pictured) had the Lyon Shape that was originally designed for airships by a woman?
What's the shape? Is this the conceptual "teardrop" shape (i.e. blunt nose, long tail, almost any of a great many shapes)? Or is it a more specific "Lyon" teardrop shape, according to some particular set of proportions that she devised? Andy Dingley (talk) 08:49, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

When did Lyon obtain her BA in mathematics from the University of Cambridge? She may have read mathematics, and taken the exams, but Cambridge did not award degrees to women until 1948 (although from 1921, women who passed the exams were given a diploma conferrning the "title" of the degree, but not the degree itself). The Queen (Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon) was the first, receiving an honourary LLD. Was Lyon's BA awarded posthumously?
