Expansion[edit]

Looking for any interested editors who would like to join on this effort: @Zero0000:, @Huldra:, @Oncenawhile:, @Iskandar323:, @Al Ameer son:, @JDiala:, @Wham2001:. A lede is missing, and an expansion is required at the modern period. Also I didn't find information on which were the most prominent newspapers during the mandate period, so that is lacking. Extras would be section on role of women, anti-Zionism, Islamism and the Arab Orthodox Movement. Possibly also magazines. And relevant pictures, ideally of people reading these newspapers. @Zero0000: I have read a few of them but these are more newspaper/writer-specific rather than a meta analysis of the press; is my impression right? Also I was thinking of creating a bottom of the page template vs a side page template/series like this one on the history of Palestinian journalism which would also include the writers and the newspapers. I have reviewed the seven most-used citations for close paraphrasing or copyvio:

I could not see any remaining close paraphrasing. @Makeandtoss: I did notice that three of the citations did not refer to the relevant author and the relevant paper, only the edited collections. I have fixed three of the citations below; if you agree please would you update the citations?

Scope[edit]

Hmm thinking out loud: is the article's scope now History of Palestinian journalism, History of Palestinian newspaper printing, History of Palestinian newspapers (what about magazines?), or History of Palestinian press journalism (in contrast to broadcast journalism)? See History of Middle Eastern newspaper publishing; History of Spanish journalism; History of American newspapers. Thoughts @Zero0000:? Makeandtoss (talk) 22:01, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think "journalism" is correct at this stage because there is not (yet?) a natural place to summarise the broadcast or magazine genre. Also the historical distinction between newspapers and magazines is unclear and trying to separate them cleanly might be a problem. Zerotalk 01:45, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gallery[edit]

@JJMC89: WP:NFG says galleries that include non-free images are discouraged, but not prohibited. Three images in a gallery are not exactly over the top, and they are useful for the reader to be able to visualize the newspapers that are being discussed on the article.

WP:NFG: "Exceptions should be very well-justified and alternate forms of presentation (including with fewer images) strongly considered."

WP:IMGCONTENT: "The purpose of an image is to increase readers' understanding of the article's subject matter, usually by directly depicting people, things, activities, and concepts described in the article." Makeandtoss (talk) 09:54, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
