Houses

When I was at Holland Park there were 8 houses and the school magazine was called Octavo. M. Allen Clarke was Head Master.

Holland Park Houses

Addison, Fox, Hunter, Macauley, Maine, Newton, Norman and Wilberforce. I was in Fox house and class 1P2, 2P2, 3P2.

Liberalism and socialism

This sentence is a bit odd:

A number of high-profile socialists sent their children to Holland Park School, adding to its reputation as a liberal institution.

Unlike in the U.S., where "liberal" means vaguely "left-wing" and so might be grouped with socialism, my understanding is that in the UK "liberalism" is a separate ideology from socialism, represented in the differences between the Liberal Democrats on the one hand and the pre-Blair Labour Party on the other. --Delirium 06:22, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Notable parents

Holland Park was unique in that it was a grand socialist experiment. It partly gained its notability from high-proflie parents that pointedly sent their children to Holland Park (even in some cases withdrawing them from grammar schools). This contributed to the ethos and intellectual environment. The influence of the Benn family is a good example. The cumulative weight of a quite a number of high-profile parents added a certain mystique and character to the school, adding also its infamous political status. Consequently famous parents are often mentioned in references concerning the history of the school. Due to this unique posturing, I have started off a list of famous parents that others can hopefully add to.

Your stance is obviously wrong, but I'm not going to waste time debating it, as I can tell by your substantial number of edits to this article that you are not editing from a position of neutrality. I'll leave your edits untouched: I'm happy to wait for other Wikipedians to contribute to this debate or simply edit your changes out again. My argument is based on the books and references cited in the article itself. I've actually read them and they always discuss the parents when talking about the history of the school and how they have added to the unique character of the school. John Bercow

I added John Bercow under notable parents, using an excerpt from Hansard, which although in principle a primary source, seemed the most relevant one. If a secondary source is needed, there is a passing reference in this Daily Mirror article: "At Parliament, the families of ­Grenfell United are given an emotional welcome by the Speaker, John Bercow, whose sons – like Adel and Sandra once did – attend Holland Park school, which is close to Grenfell." --Money money tickle parsnip (talk) 03:22, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

August 2021 Cleanup time

As it stood the article was so different from a normal school article WP:WPSCH/AG to be impossible to navigate. It read like a former pupils memoire. I have made a start and have come up with a lot of s. To the contrary, the refs given have much unexploited material Help needed.--ClemRutter (talk) 16:16, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Criticisms and problems
