Wrong address[edit]

The map shows the location of the new Shenton College rather than the address of Hollywood Senior High School (HSHS). HSHS was at the corner of Smyth and Aberdare Roads in the suburb of Nedlands with entrance from Smyth Road. (I was a student there myself 1969-1973 so can vouch for the location with certainty.) I agree with GKSmyth. Fifty years ago I lived in Aberdare Road, Shenton Park, about 200 metres from Hollywood Senior High School. I believe the High School was also in Shenton Park rather than Nedlands. Dolphin (t) 23:55, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
HSHS was definitely in Nedlands. Aberdare Road forms the boundary between Nedlands and Shenton Park and HSHS was on the south side of the road, which is Nedlands. If you visit the FaceBook page for HSHS alumni you can see many historical photographs in which students sit behind signs that say "Hollywood Senior High School, Nedlands". Curiously, though, the school letterhead stationary that I have from 1969-1973 says "Subiaco" rather than either "Nedlands" or "Shenton Park", and I can't explain that. The full letterhead address is "Hollywood High School (formerly Claremont High School), Smythe Road, Subiaco, Western Australia, Phone 8 1313". Ironically, the letterhead spells the street name incorrectly. GKSmyth (talk) 02:04, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The HSHS site is now called Dot Bennet Park, see the Nedlands City Council list of parks and reserves. Before the HSHS was built in 1958, the site was the Nedlands rubbish dump. GKSmyth (talk) 02:16, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
