Merge from RFC 6329[edit]

There is an open proposal to merge RFC 6329 into this article. I'm not convinced the level of detail present in RFC 6329 is needed in this article. RFC 6329 is probably not notable enough to qualify for a stand-alone article. I propose to redirect RFC 6329 to IEEE 802.1aq and close the merge proposal. ~Kvng (talk) 22:37, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support for merge — RFC 6329 defines the IS-IS extensions for IEEE's SPB and should be integrated here. I'm not sure whether all relevant aspects are already covered here, so a merge might be more appropriate than a simple redirect. Neutrality problem[edit]

Much of the content in this article carries the tone of marketing material, when describing the subject of the article. At the same time the content goes beyond being encyclopedic and into far more detail than belongs here.

The "Deployments" section is effectively a list of one company's customers across different industries who are using technology described in this article. This same company's website is extremely overrepresented in citations elsewhere in the article.

Here is a rather blatant example of point-of-view issues that pervade the article (emphasis mine):

Proponents of SPB believe that Ethernet can leverage link state and maintain the attributes that have made Ethernet one of the most encompassing data plane transport technologies. When we refer to Ethernet it is the layer 2 frame format defined by IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 802.1.

Yes, there was some WP:NPOV introduced here and in other related articles a few years back. I've been trimming that back as I find it. Further updates are in order. Does anyone have any WP:SECONDARY sources that describe current uptake etc.? ~Kvng (talk) 16:45, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
