Problems with the article[edit]

Most of the article is not sourced; where does the information on Akhmerov's career come from? The last paragraph on Gordievsky is irrelevant to Akhmerov; the only connection is that Gordievsky claimed to have attended one lecture by Akhmerov. Consider moving this paragraph to article on Gordievsky. Rgr09 (talk) 07:36, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have combed Venona with citations to specific pages for numerous specific details – and the book cites a Soviet source from 1995 (a fact now carefully noted in this article) --Aboudaqn (talk) 15:36, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help with image from Russian version[edit]

Can a Wikipedia expert please help make the image of Akhmerov appear properly? For some reason, it is not showing up for me, after carefully adding to InfoBox. Thank you! --Aboudaqn (talk) 15:36, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aboudaqn. You inserted Исхак Абдулович Ахмеров.jpg, but it is not hosted on Commons. I know very little about ruwiki, and I do not speak the language, but I think the image is hosted on ruwiki under a fair use rationale, just as we do here. — Sam Sailor 16:12, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sam Sailor|Sailor, sorry to be thick, but what does your reply spell out in terms of action item? For example, are you suggesting that I simply upload the same file but in EN Wikipedia (in apparent replication of RU Wikipedia)? --Aboudaqn (talk) 18:50, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Copyrighted, non-free images are hosted on the various local wikis separately because the Wikimedia Commons, the central image repository, accepts only freely-licensed content. You will thus need to upload a copy of that image to the English Wikipedia via the File Upload Wizard, and you will need to provide a rationale why using the image in this article falls under fair use (the Wizard will help with that).
